[Practicing on his surfer certainly helps clear Jim's head. He'd been trying out some new tricks while trying to get the hang of flying it. He hadn't been out over the lake at all, but the surfer was starting to get thirsty. Can't have that happen, and so Jim lands his board, and then carries it a little ways over towards the lake. He's smiling as he starts to refill the water tanks, and so he takes a step back and looks the board over, until he sees a girl not very far away. Wonder if anything's wrong, he walks over to her.]

Hey... you alright?

[Hey, wait... is this the girl that gave him some cookies a while back?]

[Yup, she's the one! Though they some how never traded names way back then.

Ami looks up from wherever it was she was staring, trying to force a smile but failing miserably.]

Hello again. I'm alright...

[That's something that will have to be rectified, then!]

[Jim shows concern as he walks over to her, he glances behind himself for a quick moment, (His board should be fine as it is) then back to her.]

You don't look it. Something wrong?

[Ami shakes her head, but she still can't seem to force much more than a downcast look.]

Just thinking...

[He nods, and usually that would have been a sign to Jim to simply leave the person to her devices, but with such a sad look he couldn't possibly leave someone in the lurch like that. He takes a seat near her, but still leaves enough space.]

Must not be a happy thought...

Saying goodbye to friends usually isn't a happy thought, even if you know that you're going to see them again later.

[He hears what she said and identifies all too well with it. He looks out to the lake and then back to her trying to figure out what to say...]

I know how you feel... I had to say goodbye to my best pal, wasn't even that long after he and I started here.

[He let out a soft chuckle remembering all they had gone through.]

We hitchhiked all the way from home to here, and all while trying to keep a low profile. Meantime, he'd end up climbing something or getting us noticed. He compared it to the "great artistic vagabonds that walked about with no home of theirs but their two feet, and whatever roof could be found."

[He gestures just like Gonzo would, with the dramatic sweep of the hand that brushed against the horizon. He hopes that this amuses the girl somewhat, as he can't help but smile thinking about his friend. He looks over to see if she's cheering up a bit.]

[Ami does manage a smile, though it's still not very big. It is fond, though, remembering her own friends.]

That sounds like something Mina-chan would do... an adventure for the sake of adventure and nothing else. She was always dragging me around, trying to get me out from the books and doing something fun.

[Ahh, there's a smile. Jim smiles with her, even.]

Yeah, Gonzo loved the idea of trying out anything new or different. Whatever happened to him didn't matter, as long as he was able to share some of it with someone.

[He stares off at that horizon again, bringing a hand through his hair as he thinks about his pal. He misses him, but smiles.]

Minako-chan wanted to be an actress.

[she flips the book over so he can see the cover. She's currently reading As You Like It, though really it's not anything Minako would have ever performed it still makes her think of her friend.]

I was reading this hoping it might cheer me up a little...

[He looks at the book cover and nods. He never really read much Shakespeare admittedly, but someone reading it so casually like this certainly throws him off.]

You were reading Shakespeare?

Yes. I figured it was more relaxing than a text book for now...

[of course she'll be back to reading one later whenever she finally goes inside.]

Can't argue that. Anything'd probably be better than a. text book.

[Least as far as Jim is concerned. Then again, he doesn't know Ami very well either.]

Do you wanna be an actress like yer friend?

Me? Oh, no. I want to be a doctor, actually. I've been studying for it since I was little.

No, not at the moment, but I do help at the local health clinic sometimes, when I have a little free time.
