... Aaaand there went her coffee. All over the front of her shirt. It was pretty damn hot, too.

"Gah- what the fuck!" Lily yelped, jumping out of her seat. She hardly took notice of the upturned table and the TV screen that had gone dark. After all-- hot coffee, goddammit.

"Sorry about that," said Jinx, mildly embarrassed at the commotion she'd caused. It had been some time since she'd lost control of her powers like that.

"It wasn't on purpose. My powers cause bad luck and I lost control because I saw something that pissed me off."

"Tch. I don't have many shirts left, y'know," Lily grumbled, wringing most of the coffee out. The fact that she was staining the sofa cushions while doing so didn't particularly concern her.

She glanced over at Jinx's laptop, taking no notice of the website she was on. "What, did you get trolled or something?"

"A little worse than normal trolling," said Jinx. "Some idiot posted some pretty hateful stuff about mutants on what's supposed to be a mutant-friendly forum, and his or her email is with a group called Humanity First. Turns out they are an anti-mutant group that's trying to organize more chapters...and they've got some utterly charming slogans like 'save the world, kill a mutie'. Crap like that."

Jinx sighed. She wasn't sure if she should bother mentioning to the other girl that one of the places the group was looking to start up a chapter was in Salem Center. Hopefully she'd explained why she was so pissed off.

"... Huh. Okay." She honestly didn't know how to respond. Not that the news shocked her, but it didn't particularly bother her either.

Maybe she was approaching the matter too nonchalantly. Ah well. She'd worry about it when the moment to do so arrived, whenever that was.

"I can loan you a shirt to wear if you want to spray that with stain remover and throw it in the wash right now," said Jinx, changing the subject. She'd learned about different kinds of fabric and the maintenance thereof while learning about fashion in Mr. Richards' class.

"Nah, I'm fine." She'd probably end up tossing the shirt. Laundry was one thing she never bothered or planned to learn.

"Are you sure?" Jinx asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion. Hadn't Lily just grumbled about not having many shirts left?

"The stain will probably come out if you do that right away, you know."

Although Jinx wasn't one to bother with most chores, she did take good care of her clothes and preferred to take care of them herself rather than relying on someone else to do it. She believed that if she wanted something done right, she should do it herself.

Lily sighed and looked down at the large stain. She probably should do something about it... but then again. Meh.

"It's just a stain- it's not like it's gonna kill me."

"It won't, but you just said you don't have that many shirts left," Jinx pointed out. "Since the stain is my fault, I don't mind helping with it."

Jinx wasn't always the nicest person. Coming to the Xavier Institute and trying to change the parts of herself that she didn't like had taught her a few things about personal responsibility, though. Enough that people had apparently thought she'd do a good job on the student council.

"Seriously, it's not that big of a deal. I'll just buy more shirts."

Were they really having a discussion about a stained shirt? But it wasn't as if she hadn't had weirder conversations before. This one just seemed pointless to her.
