[ IT'S MENTORING TIME, and the first day of the new homeroom system. But, oddly, it looks like your teachers are a little late. Why ever could that possibly be? Finally, about 10 minutes in, the sound of footsteps and voices come down the hall -- and they're distinctly familiar. ]
" [...] just saying that professionalism wouldn't go amiss here, particularly on the first day --" [ The door swings open, and Sheppard is looking back at Jane who he has in tow ] "So, try a little harder!"
[ Jane walks in a step behind Sheppard, with a suitably petulant look on his face, until he sees all the students. Then he immediately straightens up and puts on a perfectly professional face. ]
"...Good morning."
[ Friendly, approachable time! John plasters on a huge smile and briskly claps his hands together. Illusion of authority or something. ]
"Right, so, for those of you who don't know us I'm John Sheppard and this is Patrick Jane. Welcome to homeroom! From what I understand, this room is pretty much now ours -- but I'd rather we don't graffiti on the walls too much. Basically, this is a little like the old system only bigger and more official. Patrick and I will deal with any issues you have, liaise with your tutors and generally make sure things go as easily as possible here for you. My day job is Head of Security and Networks and I also teach self defence, which means I teach you how to not get your ass kicked -- he has a class on body language so you can tell if someone is about to start kicking your ass and get out of there."
[Jane shoots Sheppard a look, then smiles at the students.]
"For those of you already in my class, you know it's a bit more complex than our tactically-minded friend here just described. But we'll excuse his passive-aggressiveness because he's coming out of that, right, John?"
[ Big smile stays put. ]
"Right! So. Introductions?"
