Lloyd yawned loudly, groaning sleepily as he rubbed his head. While he had to admit that the Xavier Institute had its own merits and charm, returning from an unrgent trip home to a large pile of homework that was to be due in a week's time was not one of these perks. Really, he couldn't help it -- his dad had been the one who needed his help; he wondered if the teachers were aware of what was going on and were just being particularly cruel about it.

There was a sigh -- perhaps he could go to the library later and possibly pester someone in there into helping him with his work. It would take indefinitely much longer just doing everything by himself... he was rather tired, though. Perhaps a quick nap would help him get ready for the grueling homework session?

Whatever he had planned for the day was instantly forgotten as soon as he'd arrived in his dorm, though -- he wasn't expecting to see anyone inside, much less another teenager apparently miming playing the piano. After a few minutes of watching, he coughed, clearing his throat to try and get his attention. "Hello? Uh, who are you?"

At first Soul didn't notice that someone came inside in the dorm room, applying a little more pressure on the keys. He heard another voice over the music in his ears and lifted his gaze pulling the earphone out of one. Looks like this was his roommate... "Soul Eater, I was assigned to this room." Once he spoke his fingers stopped and he sat up straighter pulling his hands in towards him.

The other teenager looked a little frazzled but he had no real desire to know why. Glancing down at the keyboard he climbed off the bed and turned off the CD player. Lifting the electronic piano he set it against the wall. He still needed to get a hanger before he fell asleep. Removing the second earphone now that he had turned the player off.

"Ah... so you're the new roommate, then?" Lloyd smiled goofily, scratching the back of his head as he dropped the packet of homework onto his bed. "I'm Lloyd. Lloyd Irving. nice to meet you, Soul! Hope we can get along."

Spying the piano on the other boy's bed, he was immediately interested, glancing between Soul and the piano with unabashed curiosity. "You play the piano?" While it seemed like a very obvious question (because it was), it really couldn't be helped that he was curious about his new roomie.

"Nice to meet you as well." He said. "Ah, it wouldn't be very cool otherwise." Soul commented, glancing around at his things and deciding to organize the next day. The hardest part would be organizing his CDs again... he had so many.

Following Lloyd's gaze to his keyboard he mentally sighed at the question he expected coming. "Sometimes." His answer was short and Soul wasn't eager to get into the subject. Every time it was brought up he remembered Wes, how he played and how much better his brother was.

Bringing his red-eyed gaze to Lloyd's face he asked, "Do you do anything in the arts?"

Lloyd only smiled, nodding a little as he collapsed on the bed. "Cool! Maybe I can listen in sometime." Right now, though, he was a little too tired from running around all over the place to do much else.

"Not much when it comes to music like that..." Lloyd responded. "Usually I make stuff like figures and other things from wood or metal if I have time, but lately? Haven't had much of that for myself."

They have closets right? Yes, I asked a stupid question dontcallmeevans December 3 2010, 17:09:09 UTC
Soul glanced at the door off to the side of the room then walked over to it, gathering his formal ware into his arms. Opening the door he saw that it was a closet. Leaning he grabbed a hanger and hung up the shirt, pants, jacket, and the ties onto it. Replacing it on the rack he ducked out and shut the door.

Letting himself fall back onto his bed he looked at Lloyd out of the corner of his eyes. "Really? Do you keep anything you make?" Soul can see the fatigue on his new roomie but let his mind return to the comment that he made earlier. Heh, that may only happen if he thought that he was alone. He played for very few people.

I'd imagine so! XDDD; unchosen_hero December 5 2010, 03:24:29 UTC
Lloyd couldn't help but raise a quick eyebrow at the amount of formal wear that Soul was currently packing into his closet -- was he a rich person, perhaps? Either way, it was rare for him to see someone bring their formal wear to school since it was more or less relaxed when it came to dress code.

"Sometimes." Lloyd responded. "Other times I give them away as gifts or sell them during the festivals and parties we have back home." Lloyd suddenly sat up as he glance over towards his own closet. "Actually, I think I brought a few of them with me when I came here... wanna see?"

Yay for stupid questions! dontcallmeevans December 5 2010, 04:12:53 UTC
Soul propped himself up onto his elbows at he looked at Lloyd. "If you aren't too tired." He said, and then pushed himself up to sit with his hands braced on the bed behind him. Wondering what type of figurines he kept for himself from all of the ones that he did. However, he didn't want to keep his new roomie up too long, he had to be getting to soon too.

There are no such things as stupid questions in my world. Just unasked. XD unchosen_hero December 5 2010, 10:07:19 UTC
"It's no problem, really." Lloyd was planning on taking a nap anyway, but he was more interested in what kind of person Soul was -- he had to admit, he was pretty interesting. Hopping off of the bed, he left and then returned with a few figurines of people he'd known bacck home. "It may seem silly, but these ones I kept are of my friends and family back home. It's... it's kinda like knowing that they're always with me wherever I go, you know?"

"That's cool." Soul said swinging his legs sideways and off of the bed. Leaning forward he looked closer at the carved figurines. They were really good, the faces especially. He didn't know a whole lot about carving but from what he had seen this was excellent work. "Nah," He started shaking his head lightly. "It's a cool thing to do." The teenager finished. Bringing his hands into his lap the mutant teen thought about what he had to remember those he had left in Nevada. He guessed from his family he had taken the suit, from Maka... he really didn't have anything to remember her by. It was a somber realization.

"Yeah..." Lloyd sighed wistfully as he fell backwards onto his bed, looking up at the ceiling as his thoughts wandered off back to home. Even with the figurines, it still didn't compare to having your friends and family right there with you. Though it did help ease his loneliness knowing that he had his not-yet-girlfriend closest friend and his mother here with him.

Absently looking at the ceiling again, he paused. "Hey, Soul...? You mind if I ask what home was like?"

Soul didn't answer for a while and he shifted so that he was once again laying down on his bed. Which did he feel was more like home? "Home... It was a different sort of place than what here feels like. Closer I guess." He started, really not sure how to explain it. "Friendly." The teenager felt odd, looking back just a week ago before he had left for New York. Now it seemed the thing he missed most already was being around Maka. The only person he had been able to bring himself close to.

OKAY GOOD. \o/ unchosen_hero December 7 2010, 09:15:16 UTC
Lloyd sighed -- he could definitely agree with Soul there. Even though it'd been a few weeks to a month since his arrival here, he still felt like a stranger wandering around some new foreign land, even with the presence of his mother and Colette here. "I hear that." Lloyd glanced out the window longingly, closing his eyes. "It definitely isn't the same as what we're used to back home."

what does \o/ mean anyway? it cunfulez me dontcallmeevans December 7 2010, 13:56:56 UTC
"Definitely." Soul agreed, placing his hands on his stomach while he lay on his back. Looking at the ceiling without really seeing it. Wondering if he would meet anyone he knew here, because before he had left Blair had disappeared. Thinking of it now, he wasn't sure if he wanted her there or not. She was very... provocative around him or maybe any guy she met. Hell if he knew. "Here though we really have to hide our uh, special talents."

[OOC: I'm so sorry for disappearing the last few days! Exams were horrible. :<]

"Yeah... it kinda sucks in a way, but then again, I guess that's just how it is." Lloyd sighed, nodding in agreement. He could still recall vividly the warnings that Kratos has told him about using his power in front of people, too -- and he knew all too well just how prejudiced that people were towards mutants in general. "I kinda want that to change. Just... I don't want others to have to grow up surrounded with hate, whether mutant or normal."

Ah! Then \o/ I understand about exams though dontcallmeevans December 10 2010, 16:28:56 UTC
"Change happens but the world just tries to fight against it. Doesn't matter what it is." Soul commented, shrugging his shoulders lightly even though he lay on the bed so it was hard to see.

Pausing for a moment he sat up once more and looked at Lloyd. "Since we're sharing the room, what's your power?" He asked, bringing his legs up to fold them Indian style.
