[Derrick is standing by a wall with his turned off MP3 player in his hands. This is the only one of his powers he knows how to practice. The others... he's not sure at all.]

[Oh look another nervous one. She heads over.] Looks like you're up next. What's your name?

[mutedbackbeat]

[Looks up when he hears her start to come over]

Uh, Derrick Williams...

Derrick, ok. [Checks you off on her roster.] What do you want to show me today? Whatever you're comfortable with.

[Music empathy is kinda hard to show... and he doesn't know how to tap into that other part of it. He's still not sure what to do about his broken telepathic link.]

... [Derrick turns on the MP3 player, and as the music plays, glowing orbs of energy starts to appear. As he hasn't been feeling too great lately, he can't make them stop appearing without really really concentrating or turning off the MP3 player. Earlier, he had gained control over them appearing always when music was around.]

... Can't make them stop when music plays. Used too...

[TJ watches the display appreciatively. She's a big music person herself, so really she thinks his music related powers are pretty cool.]

Don't worry about what you can't do today. Don't even think about it. Focus on what you can do for now. We'll work on the other stuff later.

[Okay, he's liking her.]

[nods]

[The glowy things go toward a machine with a power gauge. As each orb hits, the gauge shows how much energy it receives for a brief moment. Some orbs have a lot more power in them despite looking the same. They did hit with a different "beat" than the others, so maybe there's something to that.]

[Meanwhile more glowy things continue to form around Derrick. He should probably turn off his MP3 player.]

[Oh good. She tries.]

[And well, that was certainly interesting. She's not entirely sure what to make of it at this point, but she's probably got a good feel for it for now. She doesn't want anyone to overdo anything in the first class.]

Perfect. I think that's probably more than enough, if you want to take a break.

[He nods again and turns off his MP3 player. The glowy things remain, but no more appear. Derrick channels them to the device so no one got shocked from them.]

[It's good advice. Truth be said, he hasn't really been practicing since waking up from his energy coma from powering the time machine.]
