A Whole New World
Characters: Ace and OPEN

Time: Early evening
Content: Ace is trying to come to terms with her past and look toward the future. Apparently the best way to do this is to let herself have fun with her powers and fly around on a carpet.
Warnings: Abuse of Disney lyrics? Otherwise, Ace is 12. Warnings are probably not necessary.
Format: Starting in third, either is fine
It never ceased to amaze Ace that some people could be so completely at ease with their powers. Using them for fun, to aid them in every day activities... For a child who had grown up in a government facility and been trained as a weapon, being able to use her abilities for personal enjoyment was a novel idea. In the time she had been on campus, Ace had been hesitant to use her powers - she had used them briefly for Carrie's sake to show that Carrie wasn't alone in being telekinetic. She had used mental shielding to protect herself from Delerium's powers when Delerium was struggling with the damage done to reality. She had used them once to test out of Control class. The only other uses of Ace's powers had been passive and involuntary, when she had sensed things that were seriously wrong.
More than anything, Ace wanted to be a normal girl with a family. It was only after observing her peers at the Xavier Institute for the past two months that Ace began to consider that she could be a normal girl with a family and a mutant. She didn't have to cut herself off from using her powers in order to do that. If anything, she'd fit in better by not being so opposed to using her powers.
Using her powers for fun would be a new experience...but what to do? Ace walked around in search of something to do until she noticed a nice carpet on the floor. Professor Xavier wouldn't mind if she just borrowed it for a while as long as she put it back undamaged later, right?
A few minutes later, Ace came soaring around a hallway corner. Flying was fun! Why had she never tried this before?
