Elaine finished folding her last sweatshirt into her suitcase, glad that the whole thing wasn't bulging. Spending twenty minutes repacking everything in order to fit would have been a complete waste of time, and it wasn't as if Elaine was one for numerous outfit changes and accessories. She could live on the necessities and a few personal belongings - her gaze shifted to the backpack that lay propped up against the bed, and then she peered down at her watch. They would be there in a half hour.
Honestly, she wasn't surprised that Fury had readily accepted her back. She had a theory that he was still working on his idea of invisible, illusion-casting super soldiers, but she wasn't going to refute that. She needed to be doing something, needed to stop hiding behind the walls of the Helicarrier, the forests of the Institute, the grim bulkheads of Wesker's ship, and later, the lonely rooms of the house she was forced to stay in by Excella. She was tired of running and she was tired of being afraid. It was time to do something right with her life.
