Maybe J didn't want to be bothered. He didn't need some kid coming up and bothering him. It would be annoying. Unnecessary, rude, needy, something something something Spin didn't know but he wasn't convinced that he should be going to visit the upperclassman. But it had already been a few days, after all. And J had said they were supposed to stick together. He didn't want to have to be the one that found Spin all the time, did he?

His head hurt. Spin seemed to be doing this sort of thing a lot, standing outside doors, debating whether or not to knock. Indecisive people weren't very likable. ...Well, last time, he'd decided to go through with knocking, and it hadn't turned out all that poorly, right?

Okay then. Knock knock.

J jerked awake at the knock. A quick glance at his watch told him his unintended nap had been - five minutes long, what was the point of that? He shook his head and turned around in his chair, not quite willing to get up yet. Whoever was on the other side of that door would just have to deal with that fact. "Door's open," he called.

Spin hoped he was imagining that sputter in the music. He didn't understand that stuff well enough anyway to really say whether or not he understood it anyway... He just gulped and opened the door, praying for the best.

"Uh--hey, J. This isn't a bad time, is it?"

If J had thought for two seconds before opening his mouth, he'd have realized listening for the tune outside the door was a good idea and he would've recognized Spin. As it was, the kid got a look of momentary surprise before it was broken by a grin. J hadn't been expecting Spin to come find him - he thought for sure it'd be the other way around. Nice to see him taking the initiative.

"Hey, Spin," he returned the greeting. "Nah," he waved Spin's worries off, "just gave up on my homework. What's up?"
