Because Paulie still has half a case, he brings a jar of Nutella for everyone. "So we're making paper dolls?"

Now the scowl is directed at you, Paulie.

"No. I have to fill out these... progress report things."

He waves one vaguely.

"What's going well, what's going badly, goals. All the good stuff."

It is the best movie don't you know what are you talking about? =| mutedbackbeat July 9 2010, 19:52:51 UTC
Derrick glances at the TV screen, instantly recognizing the film, and then wanders over to the popcorn and grabs some for himself. Popcorn makes a Derrick attempt to be social.

He has a few hopes and dreams; none of the ones he's thinking of are ones he can share though. He's going to have to think more about what to say. "... Liked the paper doll idea better," he says finding a seat.

"Not being kidnapped is pretty cool in my book. But ugh, other than that, yeah... things are fine." He says, trying to avoid the scowl.

Paulie looks over at Derrick with a pleased grin. "See, paper dolls are much more interesting."

Having arrived a fwe minutes after Derrick and Paulie, Foxx had completely missed the context of the conversation. She does, however, catch the last two lines, and pauses in the doorway. "We're doing what?"

Derrick is munching on popcorn and debating on whether or not it would be good with the Nutella Paulie gave him. Sweet and salty?

"Something about progress reports." He goes back to debating the importance of popcorn toppings... and pretending he's not trying to think of a hope and dream that doesn't involve his family.

Pietro arrives late, too, but tries to pretend he's been sitting there the entire time. The illusion might be more complete if he weren't studying the paper perplexedly.

"How long is this gonna take, exactly?"

"Well, that depends how helpful you are. I'm not exactly any more pleased about this than you are, but think of it as a... group bonding... thing."

He is so coherent am I right.

Foxx eyes Pietro, then goes to sit on the other side of the room. From what she's seen, she can't say she's his biggest fan.

"So if we tell you we're passing our classes and playing nicely with the other kids, does that cover it?" She reaches over Derrick's shoulder for a handful of popcorn. At least the movie was good.

... Foxx may be a fellow music empath, but that doesn't mean she can have the popcorn.

Actually, in response to Foxx, Derrick only goes to get a cup that supposed to be filled with soda and fills it with popcorn instead. Then he sits back down. The bad guy has kidnapped the bride, and the groom is chasing after the getaway convertible on a horse. He can't wait for Meowzilla to show up.

"English, okay. Chemistry, okay. Math, okay. History... okay. Control, bad. Telepathy and Empathy, bad. Band, good. Self defense... you know more about that," he says to John. Derrick does like his self defense class though.

The goals and future answers are going to be pushed away as much as he can. He's realized he doesn't have any... except for controlling the glowy things.

"Depends if I believe you or not."

He shuffles through his papers with a stifled yawn and finds the one he wrote Derrick's name on, quickly making notes from what he said.

"Ok, cool. What's up with Control and Empathy? -- And don't think any of the rest of you guys are getting out of this, I'm not making it up for you."

"Ugh, everything is pretty average. Classes are fine and umm, school is awesome. My best friend just started attending here." John, you are going to have fun with that one in the future.

Paulie just blinks and shrugs.

"Suck at both," Derrick says flatly. He hasn't improved in Control and has done worse some days. For Telepathy and Empathy, music empathy looks to be rare amongst the empathy types, so he can't find any information on it. And he's not a telepath either... not anymore... maybe... What?

Derrick is going to go back to what he was doing. He can get away with that for a progress report, right?

Pietro is doodling burning little stick figures on his paper. One of them looks suspiciously like Rictor.

"I'm going to class now," he reports, as if this is something to be congratulated. "And my freaky roommate left."

Oooookay.

"Well, going to class is good."

There's a pause as he mentally reworks 'going to class' into something teachery and positive, then 'freaky roommate' into something about settling in well.

"And, average is... good..."

Yeah Paulie gets 'progressing well' and 'settling in well' too.

"Ok, so maybe for a goal Derrick should have... try harder in the classes you suck at? What about everyone else?"

Foxx shoots Pietro a quick glare at the mention of his roommate - that sounds like something Regina would say, and to say she's not a fan of that sort of talk would be a huge understatement.

"I'm passing all my classes," is her simple reply to Sheppard's question. Her social life is going better than she ever expected, especially given that she hadn't expected to have one at all, but good luck getting her to talk openly about that.
