Aside from the recent plague around the building, things had been getting rather boring for Minako. Sure, she had her fun helping out and possibly traumatizing other students, but she needed more to do. She was an energetic girl, after all, and she needed something to do to burn off that extra pep. So what better way to do it than working out? Valentine's day and volleyball season were coming up, after all, so she could keep herself occupied while whipping herself into tip top shape. Yes, Valentine's day did count as a reason. She had to look her best if she wanted to snag a guy, after all.

So, in her most stylish work out clothes, she strolls down the hall to the work-out room, water bottle and gym bag in check. The music blasting from the room sounds familiar, also nostalgically so, and her head peeks around the door to see who could possibly be playing it.

...and then promptly drops her water bottle at the sight.

Oh what a day not to have brought her camera phone.

Of course she wasn't going to go unnoticed, especially not after dropping her bottle like that. It rolled across the floor, tapping in to Gaku's foot just as he went to do a high kick, causing him to stop mid motion and look down.

And then up.

"Aino-san!" he said, obviously surprised to see her there.

If he was surprised, she was even more so. Shouldn't a man on the mend be in his room recovering? How was he able to do all those moves with casts still on his...

...oh.

Hold on a moment, they weren't there. How did she not hear of this? Surely as a member of the Vocaloid fanclub, she would wind up finding this out. It seems information was more protected now that they were in the Institute.

She gave an awkward wave from the door, blush in her cheeks. "Heeeey, Gakupo-kun! Um...I didn't even know you got those off already! Congrats! ♥"

"Heh... yup... got them off yesterday" Gaku said, putting his leg back down and stretching his arms over his head. He wasn't a particularly muscular man, even a little on the thin side, but he was very obviously fit even after his accident and injuries.

He picked up a remote that was sitting near by and turned the stereo down.

"Coming to work out?"

Fortunately for him (or maybe unfortunately, since this was Minako), that was the type she liked best, and she felt her train of thought derail slightly as she watched him stretch.

...Woooah, girl, easy there. He was a good deal older than she was, after all, so oogling would do her no good. He was technically a teacher for crying out loud!

Shaking her head a bit to get rid of those thoughts, she gave him her best sunny grin and bent down to pick up her dropped bottle.

"Yeah, figured I should kill some time now that a lot of classes are canceled and stuff!" Straightening herself out once she retrieved said bottle, she nodded over to the stereo. "You can turn that back up if you want, it's pretty awesome!"

Her momentarily distant look didn't go unnoticed, but he decided not to pry, turning the music back up a little bit.

"You like it? It's this trance-dance group from Germany. Wound up getting dragged to one of their shows in Japan a while back. Not normally my kind of music but I find they're good to work out to."

Aha, so that's why it sounded so familiar. Being in London for a year, she had heard all strains of European music, so this one probably had popped up on her once or twice during that time.

"It's really catchy! Nothing compared to what you and the rest of Vocaloid can do, but it does have that sort of beat you can lose yourself to." She tapped at her chin for a moment, thought emerging in her mind. "I never knew you were so good at martial arts, though. I'm surprised!"

"Well I was raised in a monastery," he pointed out, "Sword training and martial arts training was like our version of primary school."

She gave a sheepish little chuckle at that. "Well, I heard the rumors that you were, but...is it seriously like that? A friend of mine is a miko at her family shrine, and if she ever knew what to do with a sword, she'd hack my head off in a second!"

"I think a lot of people have a difficult time believing that I was anything close to a monk," Gaku said with a quiet laugh, waving his hand a bit. "Depends on who runs it, and how it's being run, for what purpose and all that. The one I wound up at was similar to Xavier's in a way. Not every child there was a mutant or had their powers developed yet, but they were all orphans. We were taken in and taught in their ways, so martial arts was just another method of clearing one's mind and calming the soul. Something that's not easy to do with any child, so you can imagine the level of patience they all had."

There was a thoughtful silence as Minako absorbed this, fascinated by this new information she was learning about it. "Mmm...yeah, I've had my share of watching after brats--I mean, kids myself, so I can imagine." She rocked on her toes a little. "You must have had a pretty busy childhood then, huh?

"Busy, but oddly quiet. Moving to Tokyo when I was sixteen was a culture shock, to say the least."
