[Looking for trouble, as usual, when SUDDENLY, A DRAGON]

[Tries to act cool I mean uh is totally cool with the giant dragon right in front of him]

Uh. Hi. [awkward beat] Nice rubies.

[Really hopes she likes him more than Temeraire did, for obvious too-young-to-die reasons]

[arching a big scaly brow; she highly doubts this boy has any kind of expert judgement on what makes a 'nice' ruby, but she will condescend to thank him]

Why, thank you. [looms down a lil bit, but manages to not be too threatening] What is your business down here, boy?

[Manages to refrain from saying "wouldn't you like to know" to the killer alien reptile; it's a fair question, even though he doesn't have a good answer]

[So he just avoids it instead]

I could ask you the same question. I mean, who puts a giant flying dragon on a submarine? [Leans back and looks around her to get a better sense of her full size] Dude, you must put crazy pressure on the ballasts.

And you can't possibly be comfortable down here. [Considers the huge rubies again] But let me guess: you're the type of extraterrestrial who'd be even less comfortable if they made you pocket-sized?

[tch! icily:] I understand that this is what was done to ... ah, Temeraire, by those of your kind at the Xavier Institute, but to visit such an indignity on a Celestial of my status would be punishable by death on my home planet.

[Secretly pleased that she isn't all sunshine and daisies when she mentions Temeraire, although he can't tell if it's because he's somehow pissed her off or because she doesn't like the other dragon or...whatever. Just go with it, Cho.]

Gotcha. Sounds like an awesome place. [casually calculating the dragon's cramped potential range of movement from what he can see of her wingspan] Dignity before comfort: gotta respect that, I guess.

But seriously, you're not wrong. [except for the pym-particle death penalty part, about which she is totally wrong, but whatever] You shouldn't have to change just to fit into our world. Humans want to pretend everything exists relative to ourselves, so we totally deserve to get punked by astrobiology.

Still, bet you can't wait to get out of this sardine can.

PRETEND I DIDN'T TAKE LIKE A MILLION YEARS TO TAG THIS fuckyeahrevenge May 26 2010, 22:29:23 UTC
[she scoffs at his sarcasm but does not otherwise remark on it; HE KNOWS NO BETTER and if she smote the ass off of everyone who knew no better around here then she'd never get anywhere.]

Hah - I would say it is I who is ... "punked", in this situation, rather than yourselves, but I cannot disagree. Nor, indeed, am I keen to remain on this submarine of yours any longer than is absolutely necessary - but I understand I am not alone in this sentiment. My size is, after all, not the only factor in my discomfort.

[So amused Lien used "punked"; hearing the ridic slang coming out of a dragon's mouth has clearly made him a degree or two more comfortable]

You might not be feeling the love right now, but when more people see you, the joke's gonna be on them. Trust me. I mean, you're a ginormous dragon. That's, like, the definition of badass.

But yeah, you're definitely not alone feeling less than thrilled down here. Do they at least feed you edible food? Cause for the humanoids on board - yeah, not so much.
