Giving her a smile filled with more confidence than he felt, he pulled out a chair for her whilst chirping encouragingly at his abrupt pupil. "Well then, I'd better get out the cutlery for you first."
Swooping around the kitchen in a practiced manner he quickly gathered together all of the familiar items, laying them out on the table in an orderly way; increasing in size from left to right and changing functionality from top to bottom. There was everything that he thought would be brought up on a basic level, from teaspoons to measuring cups and mixing bowls.
"Now, for a start, which of these do you recognise?"
The hand in his trouser pocket crossed fingers involuntarily in hopes that there were at least some.

“Now I know for a fact that all of these are mixing bowls.” She said confidently. Moving down the line, she inspected all of the other kitchen items that Sanji had set out for her. “Alright, I also know that these are measuring cups and spoons. I just don’t know how to use them.” Pausing a moment, she collected her thoughts before continuing. “So when a recipe asks for half a cup of something, does it mean I fill one of the measuring cups half way, or can I just use a regular cup?”

"Well, if you want to be dead accurate you use the measuring cup half way, but most cups are about the same size- it's a traditional amount that became an accepted mass, because china cups had to be of a certain size to meet regulations so that the trading companies could figure out the balance of wares... Er, not that that really matters!" He floundered slightly, blushing and holding up his hands; he didn't need to confuse matters with the history of importing tableware and porcelain, oh man, he was going about this all wrong he'd known it...
"Uh, well, anyway, in short, you can generally trust most cups to be accurate, but if you use the measuring sort then you're guaranteed to be correct." He picked up a dessert spoon; "It's different for spoons through- a dessert spoon-full is very different from a tablespoon-full, and a 'heaped' spoon-full is more different still, so you really have to know the difference between them, or you'll be in trouble."
