Fiore was already there by the time Roy arrived, being not the type to keep others waiting. He too was dressed simply, which was only all the more awkward given his strange coloring. But clothing wise, the only thing out of place was perhaps the belt on his waist. Attached to it were various small bags that Fiore had kept his seeds in.

"Hi," Fiore smiled shyly when he caught sight of the other man.

Roy's eyes flicked to the belt pouches. Probably plants of some kind though what kind was a mystery. It made sense that Fiore would bring some.

"Hello," Roy said with a nod. "You ready?"

"Not really," Fiore replied, pushing his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "I'm not... the combat type."

Rather, there was a good reason why despite being with Xavier's for so long, Fiore was not and probably never would become a X-man.

Roy's face was still serious, but his eyes held a shade of surprise. He'd noticed Fiore wasn't on the combat list, but with at least that energy draining ability, the alien would be a hard opponent to bring down.

Still...they were here to train after all. Perhaps this would help Fiore in some way.

Roy held up his hand, gloved fingers poised to snap as he shifted so his weight was mostly on the balls of his feet. "Then at least this will give you good practice in dodging."

Snap! A jet of flame rocketed in Fiore's direction. It was a little hotter than Roy would've liked to have used against a beginner (the clear, cherry red flame was at least 1000 degrees Celsius), but any cooler, and Fiore would be having problems seeing it at all.

Fiore smirked. He did not offer to help Roy train just by dodging. Ducking down to a half crotch, Fiore pressed a palm against the floor, a seedling caught between his hand and the ground only to grow into tendrils at a rapid rate. The plant reached straight for Roy to attempt to curl itself around his ankle.

"I hope you like morning glories."

Roy's eyes widened just a hair at the action, and he launched himself to the left, barely avoiding the plant's grab.

He smirked. "I'm not a big fan of them."

He redirected the flame, increasing its temperature as it angled towards the tendrils. It wouldn't be easy to burn through them; living plants could hold quite a bit of moisture.

He snapped with his right hand to create an explosion to Fiore's right, aiming to use the concussive force to break the alien's contact with the the seed that must've been there.

The explosion made Fiore roll to his left immediately, but when he got up again, there was a branch of dandelions curled around his wrist, all in full bloom. Fiore smiled and then blew at the flowers, releasing millions of seeds in Roy's direction. A harmless move, or so it seemed. They were all ready to drain the other man of his energy to feed their own growth once any made contact with exposed skin.

Roy wasn't sure what Fiore was doing with the dandelions, but it couldn't be anything good.

However, he had to inwardly grin. Living plants were hard to burn, but dandelion seeds were excellent tinder even if the plant they came from had been alive. It was unlikely he'd get all of them, but he'd definitely get a large chunk of them.

He didn't bother to snap his fingers, pulling some of the flames from the fire attacking the tendrils. He spread them out, commanding them to feed on the seeds and starting to create a wall of flame.

That made Fiore frown. To burn those seeds before they had a chance to bloom... Fiore whispered a command to the morning glory (he wasn't sure if he had told Roy this, but he did not need to be in contact with those plants to control them). The plant curled to form a bridge over the fire, just enough to give the dandelions, and Fiore, a clear path to the fire user.

Using that bridge as a springboard, Fiore leapt towards Roy, landing just a little behind the man.

No. No, Roy definitely didn't know about that little trick. And he was wholly unprepared for it.

"Shit!"

Even as he swore, he turned, right fist in the palm of his left hand and jerking his elbow in Fiore's direction, aiming at his opponent's midsection.

At the same time, tendrils of flame erupted from the flame wall, reaching towards Fiore just as their plant counterparts had towards Roy.

With his back to the flames, Fiore took both that attack and Roy's elbow squarely as he grabbed for the other man.

"Got you," he hissed into Roy's ear, unable to hide the grimace of pain in his voice as he began to drain the other man of his energy.

Roy felt that dizzying feeling of running up too many flights of stairs at one time. Dammit, he had to get Fiore off of him. Now.

He allowed himself to drop. If he pulled Fiore down with him, he might be able to kick him off while his opponent was off-balance.

His flames changed direction again, swooping about to try and burn more of the dandelion seeds. He had enough to worry about at the moment.

Recharged, Fiore let go the moment he felt the other man slump, though not before slipping a seed down Roy's shirt. The plant bloomed immediately and latched onto the other man's flesh. Surprisingly though, this one did not drain him. No. This plant had a different way of getting its energy.

"That's a Venus Flytrap I have down your shirt," Fiore warned, keeping his hand out to shield his face from the fire. "Want to see how big I can make it grow?"

No, he definitely didn't want to find out.

"Bastard," Roy ground out between clenched teeth, the pain acting in the place of cold water to try and bring himself around. "I liked this shirt."

He forced his jaw to shut that much tighter, the nerves in his teeth moaning the action. One of the flame tendrils broke away and attacked its master, striking his front solidly. Roy felt his skin started to blister from the radiated heat as he tried to burn at the seed, ruining his T-shirt. However, he had enough control to keep himself from becoming tinder.

After a few seconds, he rolled away, panting and hissing in pain. However, his movements were slower than he would've liked. He hurt from the self-inflicted burn, and his body was fatigued from the loss of energy.

Fiore wavered at the harsh tone in Roy's voice. Roy was a friend, and Fiore really did not want to lose friends. God knows he had little of them to begin with already. Kneeling on one knee, Fiore held out a hand as the Venus Flytrap dropped itself onto the ground, scuttling over to the plant manipulator instead.

"I yield."

Roy glared. "Don't you dare yield, Fiore. This is a practice session. It doesn't mean anything in the end."

He gave a toothy grimace before just falling down. It seemed he had gotten a few dandelion seeds on him that he didn't notice, and they'd been sapping at the rest of his energy.

He lie there, out cold.
