Juliet was not the type of person to go back on her word, and she had promised Thomas she would visit him as much as possible. Besides, he was fun company and she really hadn't made many friends at school yet. She held her History book close to her chest and walked into the coffee shop.

Stopping at the counter, she tugs some money from her pocket and glances up at the menu before deciding on what to get. "Hey... Any fights with the whipped cream lately?"

Thomas laughed, finishing drawing a squiggly snowman at the corner of the board, and turned to Juliet. "I was victorious yesterday, but the whipped cream got me back once today," he answered, pointing at the left side of his face. "Right in the eye."

He grinned at Juliet, noticing the way she held her textbook close. "All work again, Juliet? You know what they say about all work and no play."

Juliet rocked back and forth on her heels and bit back a grin. "At least there haven't been any casualties. Though, I think if you were to wear an eye patch, it'd be very dashing. So at least we know you could pull it off?"

She glanced down at her book and shrugged. "I love history, so can it count as being something fun? Besides... Coming to visit you is something I would consider 'play'."

"Hm... the pirate look," Thomas mused thoughtfully. "Would I have to do that swaying walk too?" Her answer only widened his grin and Thomas put a hand to his heart. "A beautiful girl thinking coming to see little old me is 'play'? You sure know the way to a guy's heart." Thomas laughed a little at himself before he dropped the ridiculous act.

"How's school treating you?"

"Well, when you act like that," Juliet teased him, still grinning. "And no... I don't think you'd have to do the swaying walk unless you reaaaaallly wanted to."

She set her book on the counter and placed her hands on it. "Not too bad. Busy, but that's school for you..." she trailed off before flashing him another smile.

"I suppose so, it's been a while since I've had to do homework," he joked. It had been a good... nearly five years since Homecoming. He forced the fuzzy memories away; they weren't doing him any good. Thomas matched Juliet's smile with a grin of his own.

"Still, I'm glad you came by. It's awfully lonely not to have anyone to talk to." He jerked a thumb at the menu. "Can I get you anything?"

"It can't have been that long..." Juliet countered, still grinning back at him. "And I think I'll have a peppermint tea, please..."

She smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear. "I'm glad I can be of service... Keeping you company and all."

"It's been a couple of years, and you know how we old people get. Memory goes quick," he teased her with a wink. "One peppermint tea, coming right up." Thomas wrote the order on the paper cup, along with Juliet's name, and fished for the proper box of tea bags that had gotten buried behind all the new Christmas syrup flavours. "You're becoming my favourite customer, you know," he told her. "Not only will you keep me company, but easy orders and no whipped cream."

Juliet rolled her eyes at his 'old' comment. "Right, well, you still remember my name, so you can't be that old."

She held out her money for him. "Am I? I think I can live with that. Do favorite customers get any special perks?"

"Pretty girls tend to jog my memory." Thomas unearthed the box of peppermint tea from behind the caramel sauce. How it had gotten there he had no idea. He made change for Juliet and passed it back along with a small package of chocolate-covered cherries. "Just my undying gratitude, is that enough?" he asked with a wink as he continued fixing Juliet's drink, filling up the paper cup with water.

Juliet grinned and played with her hair some more, glancing away and blushing. "You're just saying that."

She glanced back in time to grab her change and the package he handed over with it. She looked down at it, then back up at him and grinned. "Of course that's enough, silly. Besides... I get to say that I'm a favorite."

"I only say what's true," Thomas protested, sliding Juliet's tea over the counter. He beamed at her with his most innocently charming grin. "Would this face lie?"

Juliet looked like she was thinking about that question really hard. "Hmmmmm...."

She took the cup of tea and blew on it slightly before taking a sip. "Well, I guess that face wouldn't lie..."

"Good, I'd hate to think I'm coming off as someone untrustworthy." Thomas poured himself a small cup of coffee, and leaned against the counter. "So what's life out there like?" he asked, only a little jokingly. "Getting used to school yet?"

"Things seem to be calming down a little," Juliet shrugged, sipping on her tea a little more. "And... School's fine. I'm still having a tough time trying to fit in... I was thinking of going to the counselor and seeing if she could help me..."

She took another sip of tea and smiled. "Maybe it'll be easier after Winter break...."

"A girl like you, having trouble fitting in?" Thomas sounded incredulous at the idea. "But you're all nice and friendly to the poor and beleaguered." His grin made it clear exactly who he thought the poor and beleaguered were.

The thought of another student going to the counselors made Thomas twitch inwardly. "Maybe so," he agreed, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with the comment about counselors. After all, there were more than two according to Roderich, and it was perfectly likely that Juliet would go to a counselor who wasn't pure evil. "Must be hard to make friends when everyone's scrambling to get ready for Christmas. Are you headed home over break?"
