Declan deciding that avoiding any rec rooms would be the first step in tracking down this elusive Orchid. Honestly he didn't even know her real name. And yet, she could give Holly J a run for her money. Plus the girl let him use his mind control on her. Holly J just jumped down his throat.

Finally finding her, he nodded. "Hey."

Pansy glanced up from her book when Declan showed up. She didn't close the book, but she didn't look down again. "Hello."

She raised her eyebrow as she stared up at him, but didn't say anything. Instead she glanced back down at her book for a few more moments. "Honestly, the only thing to do here is read it would seem."

"And train." He said smirking, recalling their little disagreement on the validity of him training. Taking a seat across from her, he looked at the book. "What are you reading? I didn't get a chance to grab much on my way out of the school."

Pansy smirked. "And train," she agreed. She held up the book, so he could read the title. "Dante's The Divine Comedy... I brought a handful of books from home, but I'll probably finish them within the week by the looks of it."

She folded down the corner and closed the book. "If you haven't read it, I could lend it to you when I finish."

Declan smiled at her. "Is it like The Inferno?" He asks, remembering reading that in France not long ago. "I could use the distraction. Have you read any of Kurt Vonnegut's books?"

"It's the Inferno, plus Purgatory and Heaven. Honestly, the Inferno is the most interesting part..." Pansy nodded. "I have not, though I think I grabbed one of his books from our library and packed it... Which would you recommend?"

"I haven't read the others, but even then Inferno was too contrived. The soul's journey? Please. Sure, the imagery is great, but it's another media in which the majority supresses the minority in the form of religion." Dec said leaning back into the chair.

"Really, any are good. I'd recommended The Man without a Country for our current political mess though."

Pansy smirked, watching him even closer. "You find that in nearly every great book written. I merely reread it for the imagery, myself. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd find it a dreadful bore."

She nodded her head slowly. "I'll keep that in mind, then... Perhaps by chance, it's the one that I pulled."

"But you don't find as much brainwashing in more modern books. Propaganda, I'll admit. But I find that the more someone tries to hit me over the head with a Bible, the more I try and piss them off. I mean look at Stryker, excuse me, Rev. Stryker. Prime example of a hypocrite." He leaned in talking to her. Wow, she was gorgeous, witty, and smart? Declan wasn't sure if that was even possible. Mind you, being a recovering womanizer he didn't always see the best girls out there. Just the pretty ones.

"Slaughterhouse Five is probably his most notarized, but like I said, any are great."

Pansy raised her eyebrow at him as he leaned closer to speak with her, but the smirk still tugged at her lips. "Or we are not as susceptible to the brainwashing in modern times, which is why it is seen as mere propoganda," she replied softly. "But Rev. Stryker... He is quite a nuisance, isn't he?"

She was now looking at him through her eyelashes, more than a little amused by him. "Then I will be sure to add any and all of his novels to my list."

Declan found him genuinely smiling. "You do have a point. Though I guess each book is a snippet of that era, like an anthropological review, fiction or not. Not that I've read everything by her, but Jane Austin is a prime example. What was socially acceptable in it's limited capabilities."

"He really is. Humans are evolutionary less than mutants, and yet, we're the ones being persecuted by the likes of him."

"Sometimes novels from each era are a better sample of the times than any history book could ever hope to convey. I will admit to having read all of Jane Austen's works during one far too boring summer...."

Pansy brushed a lock of her hair from her face and held back a dry laugh. "Yes, well, the masses are easily swayed even if individuals aren't. Mob mentality."

"I read Sense and Sensibility after Fi, my twin, read it. I have seen the six hour BBC version of Pride and Prejudice as well. Something again, Fi insisted on it - something about Colin Firth." Dec shook his head, smiling.

"That and the fear of the unknown is the human constant."

"I suppose those are perfectly valid excuses," Pansy taunted. "It would seem your sister talks you into quite a bit."

She seemed to take this into consideration, after all, it was very true. "We'll see how easily they are swayed until one of their beloved turns out to be one of us. It's only then that you see a person's true colours. Though I tend to not expect much from them in first place."

"She's my twin. She knows I'm wrapped around her finger, but she isn't malicious. At all. It would seem I'm the evil twin in this duo." He smirked, joking.

His tone darkened and he looked down. "They become ashamed. It becomes about them and what did they do wrong." Yeah, it wasn't fun.

"Well, I might have found you dull if you were the 'good' twin, as though there were such a thing," she teased.

Pansy pressed her lips together. Right. Not everyone here had the luxury of a mutant family. "They may change their tune. If... for some reason, they do not... You must remember the brainwashing of the masses. It's something we must deal with far too often."
