Something about the fact that his bed was unfamiliar meant that he had trouble sleeping in it. Or maybe it's the fact that he hadn't exactly done anything exhaustive that day, and his brain was too hyperactive to be calmed down long enough to drift off.
His first day at a new school and he was already breaking the rules, but he made sure nobody saw him sneak out of the school at the very least, as he headed down towards the lake, feeling the cool air on his face as he reached the banks of the lake.
Percy always thought better under water.
He jumps in and lets himself sink - down, down, down to the very bottom of its depths. He keeps his clothes dry and finds that he's still able to see under water, or at least have a vague idea of where everything is.
The fish swirl around him, curious about this new addition to their lake.
