Near Emma's office, but not inside. queenwitha_j February 28 2010, 20:42:03 UTC
Holly J had set herself up behind a corner to keep an eye on things. This is exactly the sorta shit she didn't want at her school. It wasn't right, it wasn't fair! Why couldn't she be in a nice safe place without sudden criminal attacks? She couldn't go in there and talk to them, that was nuts. She could fight, but she wouldn't win, that was more nuts.

So all she could do was keep an eye on things and keep trying to call the staff, or the students at the conference, ANYONE! However every dialing attempt met with the phone system being overloaded. Something else was going on, something big, or these guys had some way to keep the phones busy. Cass would know how to deal with this, she's good at this sorta criminally spy stuff.

Holly J was a cheerleader who could plan the best dances... what could she do?

After his initial plan to try and gather what remaining staff were in the institute had hit the colossal brick wall of all means of communication being over-ridden, Sanji had made the inevitable decision to see what could be done by meeting the gathering of invaders face to face. He had no misgivings- he was a force to reckoned with, but he'd read and heard enough about the ominous Brotherhood to know that he would have no real chance of winning in an open confrontation. All he could hope to do for now was provide a distraction, whilst hopefully preventing any students (or teachers) from making a decision that they would regret by trying to join them ( ... )

Well, at least some staff is still here. That's good, "I'm sure that it isn't advisable to be here... but," she gathered her courage, which usually is rather large and assuming... when criminals are not involved. "I couldn't just stand by, most of the staff isn't here. The least I could do is keep an eye on them. I'm fast enough and strong enough to get away too!" While she sounded defiant, she kept voice low so they didn't attract attention.

"I didn't think running away was right, especially if it meant they could talk to some of the students that are here that might listen to them..."

A slightly fawning smile lights up his face at this defiant response; putting on a brave face whilst genuinely acting in such a noble manner, how admirable! He manages to regain his more sincere composure before answering.

"That's precisely my concern... unpleasant though the thought is, there's a few who might be swayed to join if they come by them." He leans against the wall next to her contemplatively. "So, we can either go in there and cut off the snake's head, or try our best to stop others from wandering into its teeth."

The arts of subtly are several dimensions beyond the understanding of the rubbery limbed boy who is stomping down the corridor towards the office, looking almightily displeased and entirely unaware of just how dangerous the situation he is intent on throwing himself into is.

He continues past the two people conversing in a leeway to the side of the corridor, intent on seeing to this unwanted intrusion to his school.

"We're outnumbered and... other than the activities on the Intrepid, my first real fight," she's had a gun drawn on her. She's had plenty of training at the school, but real fights with real people. Other than Cass teaching her to stop doubting herself... this would be a first. "And I don't think these guys will be as easy as those overgrown lice ( ... )

Sanji frowned in a reluctant manner; he really didn't want to have her involved with any type of fight if he could help it. Certainly, he was itching to give them a generous dose of the heel of his shoe to mull over, but kicking down the door with guns blazing (literally as you please) was surely not a sound strategy; there were too many things they didn't know, too many things that could go wrong.

... like that rubber-headed dunce, for example.

Cursing under his breath it seemed like a black and yellow blur had swept out into the corridor and grabbed Luffy by the neck, as Sanji pulled him over the to side to prevent him from being any more foolhardy.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

Even as the students and staff gathered, the combined powers of the Gambler and Rune were twisting the corridor, separating the times and spaces of the various groups until each small gathering existed in a place entirely separate to the others.

Within the room, Luxord smiled thinly and returned to monitoring the hold they had over the Institute itself.

Makes as much sense as it needs to :I cosimrubber February 28 2010, 22:15:49 UTC
At the rapid removal from his intended direction Luffy was rather inclined to punch whatever it was that had yanked him to the side by his elasticated neck soundly in the face, but finding that he was looking up into the less-than-pleased face of his best friend in the whole world ever he simply looked a little disgruntled.

"I'm gonna go and kick their ass for being jerks, that's what I'm doing!" He looks at the girl that he doesn't recognize as if she obviously is on his side. "You want to come with?"

Makes slightly more sense than Marvel comics... but that ain't hard. queenwitha_j February 28 2010, 22:21:49 UTC
She could tell the school chef was not up for the idea of running in there and fighting, she wasn't either. This wasn't the kind of life she wanted, she was here to avoid this shit. Which was probably a mistake given how the school had to be rebuilt from... exactly these sorts of people. However it was better than how her home life would be. Also it isn't like she has a home life anymore.

"Idiot, they're mutant criminals working for Magneto. You're not just going to be able to punch them in the face," Running in there with a plan was stupid, running in there without one, alone, with no idea what you were getting into OR what's going on was suicide.

Still left the problem of they didn't have a plan.

I'm not even GOING to compare it to One Piece logic. love_hurricane February 28 2010, 22:28:57 UTC
Sanji just sighs in an exasperated way, far too used to this simplistic view of the world of Luffy's for his own good. He waves encouragingly at his acquaintance's statement.

"Precisely! Luffy, have you any idea who we're dealing with here? You even manage to land a hit and you'll be risking them bringing the whole building down because you ticked them off."

Pouting in a spectacular fashion Luffy crosses his arms, looking from one to the other in a petulant and frustrated manner, as if the entire thing was obvious.

"H~ah? But they're bad people, right? An' they're trying to get people to join them, and that's even more bad, so we should beat the crap out of them before they can! 'Sides it's not even like they should be here anyway." He nods in a determinedly indignant fashion.

"Considering they have the network on access, and got into the school, chances are they know what we can do and they will see us coming," Holly J looked around, trying to think of some advantage they had. Other than numbers. There were still a few students, with strong powers in the school.

However even she didn't trust her own abilities in a fight like this, let alone this lunkhead strawhat or most of the other students. Which... was a problem, "Both of you be quiet for a second."

She really hated cliches like she was thinking right now, and she really hated what she was thinking on a broader sense right now. "Why are we the only three people in this hall? We can't be the only ones to come here? And we have more than one staff member in the building."

"I don't like this... something big is happening, yet where is everybody?"

Sanji had been about to remark in an entirely sarcastic and dry manner that of course they were mean to be here, as obviously Xavier had invited them around for tea and crumpets, but thought better of it (Luffy's previous record with the understanding of such forms of wit not exactly being a successful one ( ... )

Unwillingly keeping quiet under the chef's well placed palm (which smelt of an odd mixture of cigarettes and seafood, causing Luffy's stomach to complain rather audibly), the raven-haired boy conducted a small stifled dance of aggravation. On finally being released he bounces out into the corridor behind Sanji, grabbing the unfortunate man by the tie and tugging him towards the office door eagerly whilst offering his own explanation for the odd absence of people.

"It's a mystery corridor. Come on, they're bad people! Let's kick their asses!" He waves at the girl to join them. "Well? You coming or not?!"

There was no chance that the entire school, staff included, decided to vacate the area. There had to be more than three people, gullible, curious, courageous, or stupid enough to come here. Given that two of them were courageous, and one was a mix of that and stupid. They were short at least two others.

Her mind told her to run. Find Kurt, or Alfred, hell, Tina, and get word to the Conference. Whatever was going on there was certainly not as big as this. That there was no reason to run into some foolish fight with criminals they knew nothing about. However... the other two have made up their mind. So her answer was to leave them to their almost certain doom, and save her own skin. Or give them at least even numbers.

She facepalmed, "Fine, we'll go with the stupid plan. Let's go."
