Amadeus leaned against the wall near the door to Ms. Frost's office, his shoulders hunched in marked anxiety. He had meant to knock on the door several minutes ago - eight minutes and twenty-seven seconds ago, to be exact, assuming his powers weren't messing with his watch again - but so far, it just wasn't happening.

To be totally honest, he didn't feel too guilty about it, either. She was a telepath, after all, so she had to know he was standing out there - that he wasn't really late so much as he was hesitant.

But then, that was kind of the problem.

He rubbed the back of his neck. Talking seriously to such a powerful telepath was, he figured, going to be an exercise in ceding his considerable conversational control to what was at best an unreadable companion, and that...actually made him nervous. Like, seriously, straight-up uncomfortable kind of nervous. He had no illusions about being able to fast-talk his way out of a sticky conversation with someone like Ms. Frost, and he didn't like that one bit, either.

As if talking to normal people about his problems wasn't hard enough, right?

Still, he was creeping up on the ten minute mark, after which point he figured anxiety stopped being a legit excuse for tardiness. He had, after all, been the one to ask for this meeting, and as of yet he had no actual reason to suspect that Ms. Frost was going to be anything but genuinely helpful...paranoid suppositions about her powers aside. He'd just have to play this one as wide open and forthright as possible, which would minimize whatever advantage she might have. So, taking a few final seconds to gather himself, Amadeus pushed up off the wall, straightened his shoulders, and knocked sharply on her door.
