Jeremie sat under a tree with a book, enjoying the crisp air. He really didn't mind the cold that much. It was being hot that he didn't particularly enjoy. One could always cover themselves further.

He'd borrowed the book from the library, the subject matter being illusions. He supposed he could categorize his own particular power as a subset of that. In any case, it might help him keep his grip on the present while he was viewing the past.

As she strolled across the grounds Toph picked up on the presence of various people mingling around despite the weather. She supposed some people were better with the cold than herself, but it still surprised her to find people outside still.

Toph paused near the tree. "So what brings you out here on this crispy winter day?"

Jeremie looked up from his book to see her. She looked a bit older than your average student. A teacher, maybe. "Just doing some studying. I like it when it's cold." He saw her rock shoes. Rather bizarre footwear. "What about you?"

"I'd much rather be in a warmer climate if that answers your question. But I can always look at this as a personal trial and learn to adapt. It's what we've been doing for centuries as a species at any rate." Hey, she might not look it, but Toph WAS a science person. True, her focus was on the environment and different ecological fields, but everything on earth was connected as far as she was concerned.

She gestured towards him, "What're you studying?" It wasn't as though she could see the book after all.

Automatically, he tilted the book up for her to see the cover...then he realized that though she was looking at him, she wasn't really looking at him. He blushed in embarrassment.

"Um...illusions. It's not exactly my power, but sort of similar."
