Characters: Pearl Fey and Dick Grayson Location: The gym! Time: Uhh. Saturday, probably early morning. Content: Pearl is practicing where she's pretty sure she won't hurt anyone. Format: Prose Warnings: ADORABLE
After the early meeting Scott - who hasn't changed a bit, Dick's noted fondly - called, the best idea would probably be to go take a nap considering he hasn't even slept yet. Instead, Dick's decided to hit the gym to have a little workout.
Perhaps not the brightest idea after a night of crime fighting but he's far too awake now to go to sleep. Caffeine does that to you. He'll work out, cool down for a while and maybe read a book and then see about sleep. For now, Dick just wants to move and this early in the morning he should have the gym all to himself.
Or so he thought until he entered the gym, at least. Curiously there's a little girl already there.
Pearl's favorite thing in the gym where the medicine balls- they were kind of like her own ball, except heavier and they didn't bounce as well. Still, they were fun to toss into the air and see how high she could throw them.
The surprise of someone actually being there made her fail to catch it when it came down with a loud 'clunk.' "Oh! Um, good morning." He looked like a teacher, but she was still surprised to see someone.
The loud resounding clunk made Dick wince a little. It's a good thing he's gotten so used to seeing what these kids could do, the sight of a little girl tossing around a medicine ball isn't too weird to him.
"Sorry, did I startle you?" He gave her an apologetic smile as he moved closer. The answer was obvious but that's what somewhat rhetorical questions were for.
"Um. A little..." Pearl quietly reached down to picked the ball, holding up in front of her. "I can leave if you want to use it..." She offered him the ball for him to take if he wanted.
"Sorry about that, didn't mean to." He stopped in front of her with a gentle smile on his face before shaking his head. "No, it's fine. You were here first so if you want me to leave..."
Considering she hasn't protested, Dick gently dropped his gym bag to the floor and sat down tailor-style in front of her to be more at eye level. It's not every day he gets to meet the smaller occupants of the mansion. "What were you practising, if you don't mind me asking, little Miss?"
Pearl shuffled her feet a little. "I'm trying to work on my power," she said, "so sometimes I come in and see how much of it I can use without hurting anything. I don't really know how else to do it yet."
"That's the one I don't know much about yet, yes." Pearl nodded, timidly tossing the ball- she didn't put much force into it, and it still went much higher than she had expected.
"That's pretty cool," Dick said as he watched the ball fly and makes a show out of being impressed. He'll probably never stop being amazed at what all these mutant kids can do.
"Um..." She had a feeling 'a lot' wasn't an acceptable answer. "A couple of tonnes, at least." Pearl wasn't entirely sure what a tonne was, but Mr. Cloud had given her a few of them to lift. She hadn't made it to five yet, she knew that, but what she'd been given hadn't been too hard.
"So you don't know your real limit yet?" Dick considered this for a small moment before nodding to himself. He really wasn't an expert on super-strength but he could at least help with finding limits. "Wanna find out?"
"Alright!" Pearl beamed up at him, carefully putting the medicine ball away. They'd probably need something a little bigger, even if she didn't know how much it weighed.
