Jacen fidgeted with the cuff of his sleeve as he went to roll it back up. He was filthy, covered in dirt and grime and there were more than a few twigs in his hair from his attempts to find the family of foxes that lived underneath the side porch. Mr. Burg had pointed out spots of wildlife and he was determined to interact with every type of living creature on campus, he had a natural affinity towards animals, and enjoyed using his empathetic powers to communicate with them.

The loud cry of 'TAXI!' startled Jacen out of his mental battle plan to find the fox family, and he blinked, startled when he saw a redheaded boy about his age flagging down a disappearing cab.

He scratched the back of his head in confusion, "Leaving the party already?"

Kasanoda almost jumped when someone came up behind him. He whipped around to see who it was. It was a guy and he was completely covered in dirt. That didn't bother Kasanoda so much, although it did make him a little curious. He straightened up, not wanting to make a bad impression or scare the guy off.

"Just havin' second thoughts," he said, figuring the taxi wasn't coming back, he would just have to resign himself to his fate here.

"Don't have third ones, that's when it gets complicated," Jacen said with a smile, knowing that look all too well. The institute was a little unnerving, for anyone really, but throw in superpowers and persecution and things got even more difficult. It didn't take an empath to understand the situation that the other boy was in.

But it helped. The redheaded student was practically an acid yellow in aura and Jacen didn't like that one bit.

He stuck out a hand for a shake, "It's nice to meet you, I'm Jacen, the funniest guy you'll ever meet."

It took Kasanoda a split second to realize the boy was kidding around. He smiled nervously, but at least it was a smile. "Yeah, I'm here aren't I?"

He blinked at the extended hand before realizing that not only was the guy talking to him, but apparently offering him a greeting as well. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad after all, "Ah, yeah same to ya. I'm Ritsu Kasanoda." He had hesitated a moment before saying his name, he was still getting used to speaking in English. He wasn't the best at it, but it was passable.
