Firstly, reminder that you have One Week left on Activity Check!
Now, on to the fun stuff.
This plot is an opportunity for the staff to not only save the institute, but the entire world (gasp! shock! awe!) and you do not need to be a punchy type to do it! In fact, we need all sorts of people. HERE IS THE BREAKDOWN OF HOW THIS WILL WORK:
OK, SO.
⊗ This In Game Week a couple of things will happen. Firstly, we will have a Staff Meeting log. All staff are welcome to come, not just X-Men types, because this is an Institute issue not an X-MEN issue (since the institute is acting as a refuge) and Xavier wants everyone's input. He will explain the following:
A space station used for research recently came under attack, Tolian Soran and the other survivors had to flee the station and ran into trouble. The reason behind the attack is unknown, however Soran has been demanding to be returned to his research. Xavier cannot get a read on Soran's intentions as he appears have a mental barrier, however he wants to know more about the attack before he proceeds and the nature of the research being done. As it is, he believes the station may be unsafe for now so Soran will simply have to wait. Soran himself has limited empathic ability that he uses to gauge people's reactions and try to get them on his side. He insists that his research is vital and that time is of the essence. He will fiddle with things he shouldn't and go places he shouldn't and be a nuisance.
⊗ A band of staff-types will need to go check out the station and discover what went on, along with Soran's research. Soran appears to be in league with some Bad Folk, and has been tracking an energy ribbon moving through the system. However, guess what guys. Backstabby Soran will get the jump on you as you investigate and get out of dodge. This team will probably mostly be techy types with a few body guards, to do ur technopath thang and all and try and analyse what happened.
NEXT IN GAME WEEK:
⊗ BRAIN TRUST GET TOGETHER put everything you know about Soran in a big pot along with what you learned from the space station. HE IS UP TO NO GOOD. He wants to DESTROY THE SOLARSYSTEM to get back to something called the Nexus, and now you need to find him and stop him.
⊗ TEAM ASSEMBLE track down Soran before it is too late and stop him!! (NON PUNCHY TYPES CAN OFC WRANGLE THEIR WAY ONTO THIS TEAM)
NOTE:
There is a chance during this plot for you guys to run sort of mini-sub-plots.
The energy ribbon Soran has ben tracking is a gateway to sort of fake-reality called The Nexus. In The Nexus, time has no meaning and all your desires become reality. Dead people can have never died, your life can be perfect -- you can move around in time. That's why Soran wants to get back into it so badly. However this, of course, means the only way out is via will power -- you have to realise that it isn't real and WANT to leave. You will be in your own dream-reality of sorts but others can enter yours if they have enough will power to come find you and persuade you to leave too or w/evs. Anyone who goes on the final track-down-Soran mission is going to fall into The Nexus when the sun explodes and need to drag each other out. When you leave the Nexus, you can leave at any point in time due to Mysterious Time Bending Qualities. So once everyone has fallen in, they're going to need to leave just before Soran blows up the sun and destroys the solar system to prevent it happening.
WILD ADVENTURES BASICALLY. This is a rough outline, fiddly details to help your characters work things out WILL OFC be provided like WHAT EXACTLY IS ON THE SPACESTATION.
However, for now you need to decide how much you want your character involved. There is no limit to how many people can tag along! BODILY HARM sustained at the station will be minimal (well, unless you really want to get hurt I guess). The only thing you might get from this is a Giant Re-assessing of your priorities from a Nexus Experience.
Any questions, ask away!
EXCELSIOR!
ETA: Nexus-realities can be as wild and related or unrelated to a characters current life as you want. They are basically a reflection of your characters True Desires // Perfect Life etc. And if that is to live in a giant gingerbread house filled with cats WHO ARE WE TO STOP THAT. Also: NPC-ing other characters who would be part of that Ideal World is approached in the following way:
Dropped characters / Characters who have never been in XI: Fair game.
Currently played characters / NPCS: With permission.
REMEMBER: they would act the way your character would want them to act in their Nexus, and that is not necessarily IC.
Also, bear in mind when signing up for the Stopping Soran bit that by then your characters would know what the Nexus is, and that in some cases my influence their IC motivations. ♥ AS YOU WERE!
