So I was listening to the radio and I have to ask you all. Is this Dovey Bundles singer really popular? Usually I think all music has a message and is important, but that's absolute rubbish.

How is this song "Lightningbugs" even charting? It's the same midi loop over and over again in Fruity Loops.

Right? And it's not even that interesting to listen to.

Apparently someone thinks it is. It's been number one for weeks now. I don't know what to think.

I don't know, the first time I heard it I was like "yeah, okay, this isn't all that horrible, there are certainly worse things on the radio," but now every time it comes on I just want to hit something.

Any overexposed artist can do that. I just think this Dovey Bundles will probably cause a wave of people exactly the same as she is.

Yeah, but the song is basically about nothing. Like, okay, some songs have meaningless lyrics, but that's okay, because the music is good. And like, sometimes the lyrics are kind of a filler, or another instrument, and they're there for the sound and not the words. But Lightningbugs is just the same instrumental loop, with weird empty lyrics. People just like it 'cause it's like, catchy or whatever.

Exactly. I don't see how it's not obvious to most people. The song is like someone decided to take all the elements of an annoying hot 100 song and smash it together.

Yeah. Like, I don't know, I kind of think music should be for something. I guess Dovey Bundles is kind of like the cotton candy of music. A little too sweet, airy, and not really all that good for you.

...I like cotton candy a lot more that I like Dovey Bundles, though. Maybe that's not a great comparison.
