I'm pretty sure as security staff protecting people is already part of the job description. Does this mean I should start wearing a utility belt to work?

It is a bit more complicated than that. As an X-Man you would be accompanying us on our missions against the Brotherhood and any other threats we may encounter. You would be representing all of mutantkind as well as the Institute, protecting the outside world from supremacists like the Brotherhood. As such, you are required to wear some sort of uniform. This is to protect your body as well as your identity--we have some of the highest quality body armor on the planet. It will also serve for easy identitification in case of an emergency, as all costumed memebers are required to have the X insignia somewhere on their person. There are more abstract, idealistic aspects to the costume concept, but I shan't bore you with the details. Suffice to say you will be a symbol of hope to oppressed mutants everywhere, and you must, I'm afraid, look the part.

[ Was... kind of joking. Now he feels a little uncomfortable. ]

Well, that too. But, you know I'm a little low on super powers here. Not really an... eye lasers or super strength kinda guy.

[ ooc// He's ex-military and a technopath, if you'd have seen his file or been told by Xavier, although he's keeping really quiet about it. ]

You may use whatever weapon you feel most comfortable with, provided it is non-lethal.

[ He's so glad you can't seem him wincing right now. Crap, shouldn't have said anything... ]

Non-lethal is good. I suppose if you need more pilots, I could do that.

[ He was kinda hoping if he was just a pilot he could avoid this... this is going to ruin his weekend plans. Inb4 he tries to just technopath-deactivate all the stuff in the danger room on Sunday.... 'Nobody said he couldn't! Does he win?' ]

Assuming there's no kind of crisis before then, I guess so.
