It's possible that whoever it was could have seen that and speculated it was a sign of a relationship between the two of you.

Ah well, I suppose you should be thankful that whoever had enough of a grudge against you to publicize this isn't particularly bright, as they went this route instead of attempting to blackmail you.

That's just it though...there is. At least, there is if certain people find out. It's why I'd kept my feelings hidden for so long. I'm not sure of how his father would react, that man is as unpredictable as Tamaki himself. Mine however...let's just say he wouldn't tolerate it.
I shouldn't have given into Tamaki when he asked me, It's just caused problems.

Still, if your feelings for him are that strong and you're happy together, then maybe it's worth the risk. To be honest, I've little experience in that area so I'm afraid I can't offer much advice there.
I'm not particularly familiar with the workings of wealthy family dynasties but I do think you shouldn't let anyone stand in the way of how you wish to live your life or the goals you set for yourself. Your father's a very powerful man, it's true, but you'll never be able to achieve your aim to surpass him if you allow yourself to be cowed now.
[A teasing note enters his voice.]And look at it this way, if he cuts you off, you could always work for me as my assistant when I set up my studio. Artists are supposed to be above worldly financial matters after all, so you'd be perfect for the task. I can assure you that the pay would be quite reasonable ( ... )

I'm not cowed. I'm just thinking of the best way to move forward. This is a very delicate situation and it would be best to have a plan.
[Sigh] That's a kind job offer, but I could never accept it. It would place you in far too much danger. [Soft distant tone] When I said he wouldn't tolerate it, I wasn't referring to him cutting me off from funding, he can do that for all I care. Happiness is worthless if you're dead though, I wouldn't be the first person he's had killed to keep something from reaching the tabloids. Especially since when he finds what school it came from I'm as good as dead anyways, no wealthy family wants a mutant as a stain to the family name.

It's rare for me to encounter someone else who understands what it's like to dedicate one's life to the achievement of a truly ambitious goal.
That's something precious to me that I don't wish to lose.

Besides, we're technically comrades. Don't forget that we did fight side by side during that field trip. It wouldn't do for me to abandon you now after I'd put in all that effort to save your ass the first time around.
Getting to know each other better is trivial compared to something like that, isn't it?

I'm afraid you're mistaken.
Some precious things can't ever be replaced, no matter how hard you try. That's a lesson I learned a long time ago.
It's better to hold onto the ones you have and not let them go.
And don't take my words so seriously. If I thought you were incapable of handling yourself I would have taken you back to the rendezvous point right away.
[He sighs.]
...I'm just...I'm not very good at this sort of thing.
What I'm trying to say is, you're my friend, and I'm not going to abandon you so easily. I've risked my life for far less worthwhile things in the past than protecting someone I care about, so don't think a little risk is enough to dissuade me.
