Hi, I'm Jean-Paul Beaubier.

Not to be picky or anything, but I want my name to be pronounced correctly. So here's a short audio sequence to help you out.

[The voice recognition clicks on. Have a French-Canadian accent.]

[Jean-Paul Beaubier. Not 'Jeeeen Pohl' -- or whatever you can come up with.][And it's back to text ( Read more... )

Good luck getting it pronounced right, JD. [Jay-Dee. 8D IT IS THE MOST MILD OF HIS INTENTIONAL MISPRONUNCIATIONS.]

Try doing this while we're actually talking face to face and see the result. I promise it will be fun.

Isn't Jean a girl's name?

Jeeen is, Jean isn't. Which would be one of the reasons why I hate it when it gets mispronounced.

well.

they don't really mean anything, usually. it's just a way to identify someone, isn't it? so unless you chose it yourself, it's really not that important.

I don't think so at least.

Seeing they're the most common way to identify someone and that names give meaning to thing, I happen to think they're important.

Clearly you've been hanging out with the wrong Americans. This isn't Kansas, Toto--you may not have noticed, but we are about half an hour away from New York City. If you can't have a good time there, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Incidentally, I would prefer my name to be pronounced with a needless foreign accent as well. That's [thick Italian accent] Zatara, if you please.

[JP can roll his rs and actually pronounce the Z right so you would get something very decent from him.]

I haven't be hanging with Americans, only heard rumours. I'll have to see for myself if they have any ground.
