In a similar vein to my post on
the ology of sin, I was discussing Chris+'s only 2 Commandments with someone this last week who proclaimed to be a "Chris+ian". They said they never knew that Chris+ even had Commandments. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time I'd heard this from a self-proclaimed "Chris+ian".
8-O
are you kidding me? Jesus Fucking Chris+, man, you'd think this would be sorta important to, say, a Chris+ian.
Not that I really spend any time on it anymore, I offer this up to ya'll, in case you ever wanna fuck with The SuperChris+ians (aka Fun-Duh-Mental-ists), or any other annoying Chris+ian type.
First, the quick passage:
Mark 12:28-31:
"28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'There is no commandment greater than these." "
Then, after framing it up a bit (..."it seems to me that the common denominator here is to focus on Love and unity"... "wait, does that say 'suggestion' or 'guideline'? Oh! It says Commandment"... etc.), the fun begins. If they start quoting other scriptures, I remind them that these are the words of Jesus himself, who says that "there is no commandment greater". Gotcha!
"Let the HeadPhucking begin!"
Naturally I only ever focus on the latter of the 2, and basically, I ask the victim how their (actions, words, political opinions, etc.) are helping to spread Love and unity (and not hateful or devisive). I will then pick on any aspects of them that I will choose, asking them how these aspects fit into "fulfilling Chris+'s only 2 Commandments".
Done in the right way, I can actually get them into quite a Trance, as they Process the cognitive dissonance of their present (not to mention past) actions with these 2 simple, straightforward Commandments.
