2 Paths to Successful Change

As there are 2 Paths to Happyness--Acceptance & Change--there are also 2 primary Paths (poles?) to Successful Change. I originally called these the "2 Paths to NeuroLogickal ReInForcement," but I really think they are pretty applicable across the board in the field of "Change," particularly intrapersonal Change:

Trauma* &
Repetition

Simply put, Trauma involves more Intensity and less Time than Repetition, which is less Intense and more Time consuming, or:

Trauma = > Intensity, < Time
Repetition = < Intensity, > Time

Trauma includes Rituals, Peak Experiences, Catastrophes, Emotionally Charged Memories & Experiences, Sign-ificant events, ASCs, etc.
Repetition includes Creating Habits, regular re-Minders, daily Affirmations, extended Obsession, Conditioning, Creating Associations, etc.

When I first discovered these 2 Paths, I thought of them as about equal in efficacy. However, I'm now of the opinion that generally speaking, the Path of Repetition is more reliable for Creating Lasting & Successful Change. Whereas it can be easy to forget (or dismiss, or dilute) a Trauma, Repetition breeds Habits, which we all know are incredibly difficult to break. Why not utilize the Momentum that Repetition builds, for our Intents?

Personally, I prefer to sprinkle some Trauma (e.g., Magickal Rites) into my Repetition (e.g., Habit-Forming). I focus on the Repetition, and throw in Trauma to "boost" the Repetition's efficacy. I will often begin a Magickal Working, e.g., with an Opening Rite. I think focus on Forming Habits, using more Rites to further enhance, hone, & focus the Direction of the Habits. But the focus is more on the Repetition than the Trauma, for me (for the most part). I find this yields best Results. I guess this is yet one more reason why I don't care for High Ceremony (my Rites are generally pretty simple, yet Intense), and why I am very skeptical of those "Adepts" who don't Live their Magick moment-to-moment, day-to-day, but only in the confines of a Magickal Circle.

* I'm not using the term in the common pejorative way, but rather to denote a drastic and immediate Change. I often use the term "Catastrophe" for a similar meaning, but this is more "the human reaction to a Catastrophic event."
