"All too often (sadly), many in the Pagan community have been somehow "traumatized" by Christianity. At the very least, a lot of Pagans seem to believe this to be so, and it becomes a part of their Self-Narrative Identity. So the appeal of a "counter-" to the religion (and its values, cultural norms, etc.) that has traumatized them is often seen as a god-send, no pun intended ;-)"

There are probably are a lot of people in the 'pagan' community who have been victimized by it, however there are just as many people who just whine about it and have an insufferable victim mentality. Which reminds me did you see the Wicca strips in something positive?

"It is easy to keep a traditional Identity that you grew up with, which often includes "being" a "good Christian." When you purposefully sever this aspect (often, with a lot of other aspects) of your Self-Identity, people will often look frantically for a substitute that "speaks to" them, "represents" them, and makes them "feel at home."

Yup.
