Random Day in the Life of a Chaote
Let me preface this by saying that my final day of Training, which was today, was the only thing spared my Day of Chaos today. That's a very good thing.
This morning as I'm heading to the last of my Trainings in Salem, for some reason I felt it necessary to remind myself that today was the last day of driving to Salem for Job stuff, except for the Thursday NRG sessions. Check. Cut to the look on my face just after I've merged onto I-5 going South to EUG and not North to Salem. 12 miles later I was finally able to turn around at the first exit South of the mistake. I called and let my Trainer know, just in case I should be late. As it happens, I still had 5 min to spare after getting there.
Then, on the drive home, my radio starts completely freaking out. I thought it was a DJ fuck-up, even though it sounded like my radio just up and decided to start "scan" mode. Guess what? It did decide to use scan mode. My hands were no where near the dashboard. For some reason or another, the radio now decided it will honor some button pushes from me, but not others. No, there is no discernable pattern, because if there were, I would have figured it out during the last 30 minutes of my drive I was testing the damn thing, and I would have exploited that pattern as any good Chaos Mage would. So, the display died a couple years after I bought it (I think Fotamecus fried it due to the Time display), and the tape player (which I used to run my CD player thru) died a couple years ago. Now, it may or may not play what I want it, and I have no idea how long it'll be on a station before it decides to switch to something abhorrent like country "music", talk-radio, or angry-white-boy music.
For lunch, I had Mongolian BBQ. I'm proud to say that I had about half my normal amount, and was still quite stuffed when I left. As I was leaving, I almost forgot to get my Aleuromantic Reading for the day (i.e., Fortune Cookie). When I opened it, I found not one, but two slips. I guess I'm quite Fortunate ;-) The first one said something about "having fun socially today", which I thought would be surprising, considering I planned on coming straight home after work. Maybe via LJ or IM, but not likely. The second fortune is "Stop looking and you will find what you seek." The reason I can quote the second and not the first is because somewhere between me folding the 2 Fortunes together and sticking them in my pocket, and emptying my pocket just now, the first (irrelevant?) one has completely disappeared from the planet. Even Dowsing results are coming up empty.
Because it would be so like me and my REALity to have a completely "pointless" Fortune that was only self-referential, I can't help but wonder how long after I "Stop Looking" I will find the first Fortune.
