A couple of days ago, I
posted a frustration I was having with LJ and trying to get my colors back to the settings I had originally "set" a few years ago.
monde gave me some advice, but it did nothing to change the color scheme in my LJ. Interestingly enough, I seem to be able to tweak anything else in my
LJ Customization page, so long as it doesn't involve changing color. That means I also cannot change my theme, which is now set to "Midnight" (I guess it should say "Alaskan Midnight"). "Midnight" looks the same as "Insane Yellow", "Mochachino", and every other theme. Bastards.
Now, I'm no computer programmer, but of all the insipid options they give on that page, doesn't it seem like the ability to manipulate the color scheme of my personal blog would be one of the single most important options I should be able to tweak? I.e., if they are gonna completely fuck up a single option or two, it seems like it should be fucking with the margins or title spacing or something. I dunno... I just really prefer to read (which is what I use the internet primarily for) white text on a black background, not only for the symbolism of the colors of white on black (my icon "Taiji-In the Beginning there was Yang..." hints at this), but for readability issues. I know how to tweak my browser so that all pages display in white text on a black background, but it can fuck with lots of webpages out there, and to be honest, I shouldn't have to do this to get my LJ looking like it should/did. But I am considering giving it a trial run...
Incidentally, after reading
monde's reply, I switched my layout to "smooth sailing", which is only 1 of 2 layouts that give me a list of my LJ Tags right there on my journal's main pages. It's nice, because I use the Tags so much for organizing my LJ. I just finished spending about an hour or so cleaning up and combining many similar Tags. I still need to Tag the entries from 5/05-4/06, but I think that will be for another day.
If anyone has any other advice (other than contacting LJ support or setting my browser to override webpage color schematics), I'd be very appreciative. Thank you for listening to my rant, I'm now going to move on...
:-D
