NPCs are non-player characters with pre-established roles in the RP and who pop up in plot sometimes. For the most part, they aren't characters you can apply for, but you may have noticed that in the past we've accepted applications for characters like Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. For more on this
see the FAQ.
For the most part these characters exist in the background; although they won't, typically, be involved in logs, they'll influence the plot in different ways. (To varying extents, obviously.) Feel free to mention them, but if you want them to have done something big that would affect the plot or the game as a whole, please ask a mod first.

Professor Charles XavierThe headmaster of the Institute and a powerful telepath, Xavier is a man with a dream. He believes humans and mutants can live together peacefully and is dedicated to this ideal. He founded the Institute to provide a place for young mutants to get to grips with their abilities in a safe environment.
In the context of the RP, Xavier will operate mostly in the background. He is a very busy man, and most students will be dealing with his teaching staff rather than with the Professor himself.
Bernard BlackThe Institute's librarian. Possesses a mutation that allows him to spend nearly all of his time drunk, eat things no human being should be able to, and yet somehow still remain alive. Often seems confused about the fact that there are students in the library. Possibly does not actually know where he is.
Professor Albus DumbledoreSorcerer Supreme and Master of the Mystic Arts. Spends a lot of time in England, where he is a figurehead of the Order of the Phoenix. His hobbies include knitting and making cryptic remarks to baffled, conflicted teenage super heroes.
Hulk
The Hulk appears intermittently to beat stuff up, go on rampages, and perform feats of unparalleled strength. Sometimes good things happen as a result of this. Often they do not. A lot of people think he's a menace; some people think he's awesome. One thing's for sure: Hulk is the strongest one there is.
The AvengersIron Man, Captain America, Thor, Giant-Man and the Wasp. Founded two years ago. Like the X-Men, they have a history of operating out of a mansion and fighting crime; unlike the X-Men, the general public is mostly of the opinion that they are pretty okay.
The Fantastic FourMr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing. Bigger celebrities than most other costumed adventurers, they've been around for about ten years and have their own line of official merchandise.
Spider-ManHas been swinging around New York catching thieves just like flies for a year or two now, but public opinion is divided on whether he's a good guy or not.
MagnetoMutant Master of Magnetism. Both Xavier's old friend and his foil, and long-time nemesis of the X-Men. Leads the Brotherhood of Mutants and now rules Genosha.
Victor von DoomA supervillain. His position as supreme ruler of a small European country enabled him to perform acts of supervillainy with diplomatic immunity until he was usurped as ruled of Latveria in a dramatic coup around new year.
The Mistress of Latveria
Her real name is unknown, but she has ruled Latveria since late 2009, having staged a coup against Doom. She wears very little.
Reverend William StrykerAn evangelical Christian who believes that mutants are Satan's creation because there is no mention of them in the Bible. He leads the Stryker Crusade, an organization that drums up anti-mutant feeling via rallies and pamphlets.
President Carline J HendersonPresident of the United States. Democrat. Promised massive pro-mutant civil rights reform but has mostly failed to deliver; she was elected for a second term anyway, and surprised everyone by proposing the mutant registration bill she'd previously opposed ...
Senator Harvey ThompsonWas the Republican candidate in the 2009 presidential election. Not as violently anti-mutant as many of the people who support him, but is vehemently in favour of mutant registration and promised to introduce it if he was elected President. He lost to Carline Henderson.
Senator James BaelheitNew York Senator. He has never been tremendously friendly towards mutants but was quiet in that department for the last few years; only in recent months has he started to be vocal about his position.
Senator Nero VerusNew York's other Senator. Is pro-mutant but is not as charismatic and publicly acclaimed as Baelheit.
