Lucas: Peyton, what’s wrong? C’mon, let’s get you home.
Peyton: Uh-uh. I can’t be there alone. Will you stay with me.
Lucas: Peyton, you gotta talk to me. What’s going on with you?
Peyton: I’ve been getting these creepy e-mails lately. And then, tonight this women shows up and she knew things about me.
Lucas: What kind of things?
Peyton: She said she’s my mother. My mom’s dead, Luke. I was there, in the hospital. I watched her die..
*they hear sirens*
Peyton: What?
Lucas: I did something tonight, Peyton. And I can’t take it back..
Lucas: About time. Well, I knew you couldn’t go an entire summer without doing something in here.
Peyton: Whatever. You don’t know me.
Lucas: Oh, I think I do.
Peyton: Okay, check it out, Tom Saywer. If you’re lucky, I might let you help. And if you’re really lucky, I might even let you pay to help me.
Peyton: Did you hear something?
Lucas: No. Peyton, I locked all the doors. I didn’t hear anything, you’re fine, okay?
Peyton: So, Brooke said you kept some of the stuff from when we were… whatever we were. She thinks you’re still into me.
Lucas: I told Brooke I wanted to be with her, today. Before she left.
Peyton: *laughs* Nice timing.

Peyton: Either you say too much, or, like me with Jake, you don’t say enough and then they’re gone.
Lucas: I’m sorry about Jake.

Lucas: Yeah, it’s been a tough year on hearts. Too bad we have to be this desperate to hang out again, huh?
Peyton: We didn’t have to be, we just are. But, I’m glad you’re here. I know we kinda lost each other for a while, but hopefully that’s over, right? Especially considering our history.
Lucas: It’s always gonna be there, isn’t it? You and me.
Lucas: So, the whole summer and I still can’t get used to that hair of yours.
Peyton: You did yours last spring and mine actually looks good.
Lucas: Hey!
Peyton: At this moment there are six billion, four hundred seventy million, eight hundred eighteen thousand, six hundred seventy one people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls. And sometimes, all you need is one.
Lucas: I don’t blame you.
Peyton: What’s that?
Lucas: This music. It’s enough to drive anything to drink.
Mom stuff?
Peyton: I don’t know. I don’t feel like I owe Ellie a thing, you know? But I still feel guilty sometimes for freezing her out. I mean, is trusting someone always going to be impossible in my life?
Haley: Tomorrow’s the first day of school. Every year we try to predict what the next year’s gonna hold and every year I realize how out of touch I was with the year before. Unless of course, this says I’d be married and separated by now.
Lucas: Well, zero hour.
Haley: You first.
Lucas: This year I’m going to kiss a boy.
Haley: That’s mine and it’s from the seventh grade!
Lucas: Well, It finally happened for yo-
Haley: Bitch! Shut up! What about you? This year I’ll talk to Peyton Sawyer.
Lucas: It doesn’t say that!
Haley: Yes it does, look at it.

Lucas: I’m only saying, maybe I was wrong about Ellie. Who knows what I saw, could’ve been a number of things.
Peyton: What, crack? Speed? Maybe she’s huffing model airplane glue.
Lucas: That’s not what I meant.
Peyton: Lucas, I confronted her about it, she didn’t it.
Lucas: There could be some explanation…
Peyton: There’s always an explanation with her!, it’s called lying. Why are you on the Ellie train all of a sudden anyway.
Lucas: I’m not. I’m just saying, maybe you should give her a chance.
Larry: Hey.
Ellie: Hi, Peyton.
Peyton: What are you doing here?
Larry: I invited her. I thought maybe we could all talk.
Ellie: I had no idea how gifted you were.
Peyton: (to Lucas) You set me up!
Larry: Peyton, listen-
Peyton: No, you listen. This is my world, okay? That’s my music, this is my art, art that has everything to do with mom. My real mom. I can’t believe you would do this to me. (to Lucas) Did you know about this?
Lucas: I-
Larry: Peyton-
Peyton: No, just stay out of my life, okay? All of you.
Peyton: Luke, I’m sorry. You’re actually one of the few people who’s been honest with me through this whole thing.
Lucas: So, what are you doing after this?
Peyton: It’s been a while since we’ve been in here, huh?
Lucas: I’m in here every night. In my mind anyway.
Peyton: Replying the shot that you missed? The shot that ended our season, the shot that you probably made like, what, a thousand times?
Lucas: Okay.
Peyton: So what’d you have to tell me?
Lucas: How’d you know?
Peyton: Well, I figured you brought me in here to talk, to make out or to kill me. And I figured since we’re not gonna make out, I guess it’s talk or die, right? Is it bad?
Lucas: Yeah.
Peyton: Let me guess, I’ve got three moms.
Lucas: Ellie was buying marijuana. But not for the reasons you think. She’s sick. She has cancer, Peyton.
Peyton: She told you that. C’mon, Luke. That’s just another one of her lies.
Lucas: I don’t think so. I think she was afraid that if you knew the truth, you’d feel obligated to her in some way. That it would change things between you for the wrong reasons.
Peyton: Kind of like your little secret about Dan and the fire.
Dan: And what little secret is that? Sorry to interrupt your little melodrama, but Lucas and I have unfinished business.
Lucas: Peyton, you should go.
Peyton: Yeah, we’re both going.

Peyton: Luke, Brooke made a mistake, kinda like we did and she forgave us.
Lucas: Well, she has a really funny way of showing it.
Lucas: Hey, I thought about it and you’re right. I’m gonna talk to Brooke. *looks at empty seat* Hey, Brooke-
Peyton: You know what? She has never missed a game day, so she must be in pretty bad shape. She won’t be allowed to cheer in the game tonight.
Lucas: Nothing to really cheer about anyway.
Rachel: Guess who decorated your locker?
Lucas: Let me guess, you… or Tim.
Rachel: Well, after our so called date, I thought you might like it.
Lucas: It’s very you.
Peyton: It could be worse, it could say dyke.
Lucas: You guys okay?
Haley: Yeah, Lucas, did you not pay for Brooke?
Lucas: I paid for her. I just had them wait an extra ten minutes before they let her go.
Peyton: So, you’re just screwing with her.
Lucas: What’s going on?
Peyton: Um, look, I hate to ask, okay? But, over the summer you kind of promised that if I ever wanted to go find Ellie you would come with me.
Lucas: Yeah, I remember. You find her?
Peyton: *nods* And I think I want to go see her.
Lucas: Today.
Peyton: Right now, actually ‘cause if I don’t go, I never will and I need to. Will you go?
Lucas: Sure. A promise is a promise.
Lucas: So, where are we headed?
Peyton: River City. You ever been there?
Lucas: No, but it’s on my list.

Lucas: Peyton, I made you a promise. And besides, you should be able to turn to me for help. I like being that guy for you.
Lucas: You okay?
Peyton: Yeah. I guess I didn’t think I would be this afraid.
Lucas: Of what?
Peyton: I don’t know, the truth, maybe? You know, I think this is probably something I should do alone.
Lucas: Okay.
Peyton: Luke, I’m really sorry that you rode out all this way. I guess I just needed your help getting here.
Lucas: I’m sorry about Ellie.
Peyton: I don’t think I’m ever gonna see her again, Luke.

Peyton: Okay, well look, I have to go to sleep now, okay? But, oh, thank you. Thank you for hanging out with me. You know, you’re not the manipulative psycho I thought you were.
Rachel: Well, enjoy.
Lucas: Are you drunk?
Peyton: Are you wearing eye shadow?
Lucas: Working through the pain?
Peyton: Kinda. Everything’s gonna be alright, right?
Lucas: Yeah, yeah it is.
Peyton: Oh god. How drunk was I last night?
Lucas: Drunk enough to puke six times.
Peyton: Let me guess… Rachel.
Lucas: Yeah, Rachel’s probably not the best person to use the buddy system with.
Peyton: I feel like you’re always rescuing me.
Lucas: If that’s the maid service, we’re good, thanks.
Lucas: You okay?
Peyton: You can’t be out here with me.
Lucas: It’s okay. I talked to Brooke, she knows what happened.
Peyton: It’s not okay… I mean, it is, but it’s hard on Brooke. I’ll be fine.
Lucas: You know, Peyton, you could learn a lot from Ellie. She stuck me as tough. And that’s important, but, I also thing you could learn a lot from her mistakes. Don’t live your life alone, let us in.
“Code red, code red. This is not a drill”
Peyton: My leg, I got cut by some glass. Lucas, I lost Brooke, I’m sorry.
Lucas: She’s fine, she’s fine, okay. But you’re not, uh, we gotta get you somewhere safe, come on.
Peyton: No, I can’t. I can’t walk, I tried.
Lucas: Okay.
Peyton: Don’t leave me, please. Please.
Lucas: Hey, I’m gonna go block the entrance, alright. We’ll just hide, alright, we’ll wait this out, okay? Listen to me, okay? I’m not leaving you, Peyton. I won’t. I won’t, okay?
Lucas: You’re bleeding pretty good, we’re gonna have to put some pressure on it.
Peyton: Luke, it was your friend. The one from the time capsule. He had the gun. But he didn’t look evil or angry. He just looked scared.
Peyton: I’m tired, Luke. Are you tired?
Lucas: Yeah, but you gotta stay awake, alright? Talk to me, tell me about a good day.
Peyton: We had a snow day, sixth grade, do you remember? It was like this whole other world came in over night and took ours away. And Brooke, she came over and we made s now fort, with a tunnel. And we stayed inside there all day. .And it seemed so safe. Like, everything was okay. Like, everything in our world was about to become; maybe we could just stop it and stay little kids for one more day. But then it got cold, kinda like now. They’re gonna come now.
Lucas: Who?
Peyton: The reporters and the psychologists, and the analysts and the so-called experts. They’re gonna try to make sense of this. But they’re not gonna be able to. And even if we do make it out of here, we’re always gonna carry it with us. It’s never gonna be the same.
It’s not glass, is it? In my leg.
Lucas: No. It’s a bullet. Now, I may have to get you out of here, okay? But nothing will happen to you. I promise.
Peyton: You’re always saving me.
Lucas: Somebody’s got to.
Peyton: If I say I love you right now, will you hold it against me? ‘Cause I’ve lost a lot of blood. Come here.
(they kiss)
Peyton: Just in case you can’t keep your promise.
Jimmy: Where do you think you’re going?
Lucas: She’s bleeding.
Jimmy: The school’s on lockdown!
Lucas: I know, Jim. But if I don’t get her out of here, she’s gonna die.
Jimmy: I didn’t mean to hurt her.
Keith: We know that, Jimmy.
Jimmy: What the hell is this?! The school is on lockdown!
Keith: Please, Jimmy, just let them go. You and I can talk about this. She’s hurt, Jimmy.
Jimmy: I didn’t mean it.
Keith: I know.

Lucas: Keith-
Keith: Luke, I love you. Now go.
Larry: Lucas, I’m so sorry. I wanna thank you for saving my little girl. Thank you.

*Peyton stars to tear up*

Peyton: God, I’m such a girl.

Peyton: Okay, that is so not fair.
Lucas: You probably just want to kiss me again.
Peyton: Luke, shut up! Okay, I kissed you, but I… I thought I was gonna die and you took care of me so… And you know, we-
Lucas: Yeah, I know… If I told you I loved you would you hold it against me?
Peyton: Luke, when I said that…

*Lucas nods*
Peyton: Alright. I should go.
Lucas: Peyton, I’m sorry about your mom. Both moms. I don’t feel I’ve been there for you the way I should have. And I’m just sorry for that.
Peyton: You know how proud Keith must be of you right now?
Lucas: I don’t know if that’s true.
Peyton: It is.
Lucas: You look happy.
Peyton: You too.
Larry: Just promise me one thing. Promise me that when you pick the boy that you’re really gonna be with, that he’ll be someone that respects you and treats you well. And it’s someone who makes your heart race and it’s someone that you love because of what he is, not what he does. Because that’s how I felt about your mother, and that’s how I want you to feel one day. Use your head and follow your heart.
Peyton: Jake, you okay?
Jake: You know you talk in your sleep?
Peyton: Yeah, I’m sorry.
Jake: I’ve been sitting awake wrestling with the feeling that you need to go back to Tree Hill. You shouldn’t stay here. You can’t.
Peyton: Why? What happened?
Jake: You talk in your sleep, Peyton.
Peyton: Okay, I don’t understand, so, I mumble a few words in my sleep? What did I say, was it really that bad? Did I say I wanted to kill you or something?

Peyton: Okay, well normally that’s a good thing.

Jake: You told Lucas that you love him?
Peyton: It was the school shooting, okay? And I was bleeding and I thought that I was gonna die, I didn’t mean it like that! Jake, I love you.
Jake: I know you do.
Peyton: Then why are you making such a big deal about this?
Jake: When you decided that you weren’t gonna go back to Tree Hill, do you remember what you told me?
Peyton: Yeah
Jake: You said that your father’s not around, Haley has Nathan and Brooke has Lucas.
Peyton: Okay, Haley and Brooke are my best friends and they spend a lot of time with their boyfriends, that’s all I meant by that.
Jake: Let me ask you a question, what if Brooke didn’t have Lucas?
Jake: I love you, Peyton. And I don’t want to believe that there’s another guy in your heart, but I think that there is.
Brooke: Luke, you could do it.
Peyton: uh… maybe we should just cut the night short.
Brooke: No, we can’t, this is the big finale. Please Lucas.
Lucas: Okay, but no wig.
Brooke: Deal. These are your lines, I can buy you guys a couple of minutes, just adlib if you get into trouble.
*Brooke leaves*
Peyton: You do know what scene this is, right?
Lucas: No, why…. Oh.
Brooke: One rainy day, Nathan Scott proposed to Haley James and the rest is a fairytale. This is the last scene of the night.
Lucas (as Nathan): Golly gee, that was some good lovin’ Haley
Peyton (as Haley): Oh yes, yes it was. Mm-hmm.
Lucas (as Nathan): So, what are you thinking?
Peyton (as Haley): Oh, I was just thinking how I never…
Brooke (offstage): Never wanna go home again.
Peyton (as Haley): I was just thinking how I never wanna go home again.

*Flashback to Jake*
Jake: Where’s your head at, Peyton?
Peyton: Well, when I went to bed tonight, I was living a fairytale. And when I woke up, it’s a nightmare.
Jake: It’s still a fairytale, don’t five up on that. But, look inside your heart and ask yourself, is Lucas still there?
Lucas (as Nathan): Hey. I love you, you know that?
*flashes through Lucas and Peyton’s story*
Flashback!Peyton: Everything’s gonna be alright, right?
Flashback!Lucas: Yeah, yeah it is.
Flashback!Peyton: You’re always saving me.
Flashback!Peyton: The truth is, I want all the same things that you want, I do. And I want them with you.
*end flashbacks*
Peyton: *in tears* I love you too.
Peyton: Brooke, I think I still have feelings for Lucas.
Brooke: You mean you care for him as a friend.
Peyton: I mean more then that.
Peyton: Brooke-
Brooke: Why now, Peyton? Why would you tell me you have feelings for Lucas now? When I have so much going on in my life stuff that you don’t even know about!
Peyton: Well, so do I, okay? Trust me. But, I didn’t wish for this, alright? I wished for Jake.
Brooke: Oh right, you wished for Jake, after you wished for Pete and then Lucas. I cannot believe this is happening again
Peyton: It’s not, okay? It’s not. It’s just- okay, the last
Brooke: The lat time? Do you hear yourself right now? The last time you tried to steal my boyfriend. He is on the door, Peyton. He is on the damn door under me!
Peyton: I don’t want to steal him, okay?
Brooke: But you like him.
Peyton: Brooke, I’m not going to do anything about it, okay? I’ll just burry it!
Brooke: You can’t, okay? It’s out, it’s like the time capsule. And you could’ve buried it and not said anything to me so what is that about?
Peyton: I don’t know, alright? I just wanted to be honest with you, alirght? I don’t want to make the same mistake I did last time. And you even said last night at Tric that you really didn’t miss him.
*Brooke slaps Peyton*
Brooke: Don’t you dare twists my words around to make yourself feel like you are not a backstabbing, two-faced bitch, Peyton. Because you are, and you know it.
Brooke: I’d just appreciate it if you wouldn’t talk to Peyton today.
Lucas: You’re kidding, right? This is a wedding, we’re all in the same wedding party, we’re all friends here, Brooke.
Brooke: You know, could you do me a favor and just once put me above your precious Peyton and do something that I ask you to do? Thanks.
Lucas: Whoa, what happened?
Lucas: Hey you. So, I’ve been informed to avoid you like the plague, what’s up?
Peyton: Nothing, just- Look, if Brooke doesn’t want you to talk to me, just do it. I’ll be fine.
Lucas: Hey Peyton, you look nice.
Peyton: And then there were two. I’m sorry about today, and all the drama.
Lucas: Peyton, I accidentally told Brooke about the library. The kiss.
