Riverdance is getting way too old!!!

So if any of you have ever hung out with protonmatt and myself for more than 5 minutes you quickly realize that stand-up comedy is a big part of our lives. This leads me to my next entry. There are some things that really make me mad about today's comedians. There are basically 4 types of stand-up comedians: there's the Lewis Black, the Premium Blend, the Comic View and the wild card. In the following paragraphs there will be an in depth description (including their strong and weak points) of each of these types of comedians.

First we will start with the "Lewis Black" type of comedian. This style is usually referred to as "High Brow" comedy. This type of humor is the style I have the most respect for. Most of these jokes are quite smart and take a mildly intelligent person to understand. Some comics in this category are: Lewis Black (obviously), Dennis Leary, Greg Proops, Jerry Seinfeld, and Mitch Hedberg. A good point about the high brow comics is that many of them are Jewish (Lewis Black and Jerry Seinfeld) and Jews run Hollywood. The downside of being a High Brow comic is that not many people will think you are funny. So a lot of the time high brow comedians don't become very successful.

Second on the list is the Premium Blend type of comedian. These are the cookie cutter type. All of them are the same. One requirement of these comedians is to have at least one Riverdance joke. The Riverdance joke has become an art form in itself. This sickens me. None of these comedians can come up with original material. The original Riverdance joke came from Greg Proops, he was talking about how all of the good music and dance has come out of exotic places like Africa and South America. Then he goes on to explain that when white people are left alone for thousands of years we get Riverdance. Now it seems that all these cookie cutter comics have latched on to that one subject and botched the crap out of it. This comedy group also consists of some low brow comedy, including some sex jokes, and mild bathroom humor. This is tolerable to a certain extent.

The third group is the Comic View group (Comic View is a premium Blend type show on BET). I have nothing but hate for these comics. These comics use the "So low brow it might as well be pubic hair" style of comedy. All that these comics talk about is taking a "doodoo", having sex, or using that "white people voice" (It's safe to say that most of my friends are white and none of them talk like that). I also include the Full Cast of "The Original Kings of Comedy" and the brand new "The Original Queens of Comedy" in this category. This only proves my hypothesis of "MOST black comics are not funny (with the exception of Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle)!"

My last category is the wild card category. These comics have found a happy median between all three of the previous categories. They have plenty of high brow jokes for the intellectuals in the audience along with some stupid humor for the Chumba Wumbas in the audience while keeping the white people voices to a minimum. Some of my favorite comedians fall into this category. This category includes: Dave Chappelle, Dane Cooke, Chris Rock, and Dave Attell.

P.S. - Stay away from Sinbad!!!!!
