Facebook Sluts, Gun Nuts and The Underwear Test

Nov 12, 2009 18:58

We need some fun after the world's mad week. After all, people were executed in the USA and Iran, two thirds of geologists at a UK conference believe "peak oil is a significant concern" http://www.theoildrum.com/node/5947 and New Zealand worries that one of our MPs swears too much while the rest of our MPs are happy the heat's off them and they can continue siphoning off their perks. Except for Rodney Hide who's been well and truly busted. At least some jihadists are developing a more 'just' view of jihad that says targetting innocent people is not Islamic http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/africa/11/09/libya.jihadi.code/index.html

So let's move on to the fun stuff.

This guy meets women on facebook, has sex with them, and leaves http://news.msn.co.nz/article/969886/facebook-sperminator-meets-and-impregnates-12-women Nice one mate. Oh, and he may have dealt cocaine in the past too. You have to say though, what were these women thinking to have sex without a condom when they didn't know he was committed only to them? Not too different from picking up a skank in a bar, really. And yes, men can be sluts.

Obviously he must buy a lot of underwear too, as a new survey shows men's underwear buying habits are a key measurement of fidelity: http://tinyurl.com/yaomlkz I'm not sure how rigorous this survey was, but it gives some interesting food for thought. I hope I'm not admitting to something I shouldn't when I say I don't buy 31 pairs of underwear a year. That would give me almost 100 pairs in three years! Maybe I'm not a real man, but I just don't go through underwear that fast. Haven't these people heard of washing machines? I love the last sentence in this article:
"This is the one issue that feminism has never addressed. It's not who wears the pants in each household - it's who has to buy them that counts."

Meanwhile, in the USA where owning your own gun is Very.Important. a judge has ruled that James Cap can have guns. What's curious is that James is a quadriplegic http://bit.ly/3XzcUv Let's hope he doesn't use a mobile phone, because Science Daily has just reported that a Swedish study shows wireless phones have a biological effect on the brain http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/11/091111121251.htm Read it carefully though - they are not certain there are health risks, they only suggest caution. And I thought all that stuff was a myth. Well, it will be interesting to see if follow-up studies clarify or even debunk this. That's how science works.

From science to art; I met an Australian who hasn't seen Frenzel Rhomb's hilarious "Russell Crowe's Band". Just in case you haven't http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBf7dWUDQuk
