Sure the exp might be slower than soloing, but it's fun, and less frustrating than having to deal with random pick up parties where your RDM is a bit loopy, or your WHM decides that Haste and Erase are better than a Cure V when you are getting your ass handed to you and you have no MP because the RDM forgot to Refresh you. Yes all that happened over the last few days.
I had lost all hope, until I accidentally clicked on the NPC that warps you out to the regions under attack. Now to set the scene. I got the expansion. I installed the expansion. I didn't do much more than that, then went back to leveling. So as you would guess, I hadn't really explored much of the new content apart from the random, run to Windurst and try to flag something. Now with the knowledge that I could warp straight to the Campaign areas under attack, I decided to follow the host of fanatic Campaign goes hopping from one zone to a next.
I was surprised to see that it wasn't really that slow, and by far anything but boring. Sure going solo and trying to do the "Tank" thing left me eating dirt more than I wanted, but it was fun, really fun. The most I got in one sitting was 1320 exp for this epic 3 wave battle, it was great. It was enough to get me to 67 PLD.
So just a recap on the PLD leveling that I've done recently. Wednesday went out and replaced Ayami in a Mt.Z Worm party, which got me to 66. Friday night teamed up with Ayami (NIN, PLD, SAM, RDM, BRD, BLM) for a really fun Mt.Z Worm party, which got me to 66.5. Saturday afternoon (after sleeping through half a day of events >_<) I got a party headed for C.Mire, but when we got there and saw no camps we headed to Bibiki Bay. I hate Dhalmels for a few reasons. Healing Breeze, Meh Exp, Slow Exp, Stomping, and this...
...all a Taru Tank ever see's while tanking them are their knees. To think, the MNK was upset at staring at it's ass most of the exp session. Well things could be worse, he could have been a Taru Tank. I will explain.
See our field of vision isn't good at the best of times, we usually have to unlock the camera just to see a Mandy properly (well in my case, most mandies are taller than me). So when it comes to Dhalmels we can't do a think. Unlock the camera and you still only see the body at best. This creates a whole range of problems for us Taru's, anywhere from sore necks, bad backs, to the worst of them all...
...random flying Dhalmel heads. We never see them coming, our Field of Vision seriously inhibits us from seeing this attack. We will be standing there happily tanking a pair of fore-knees, when suddenly *DOINK*, Flying Dhalmel Head Attack!. Seriously, think of the taru's before you complain at staring at a Dhalmels ass. It could be much worse.
