So today GM announces it's cutting 30,000 jobs in the upcoming years to turn the company around because of incredible losses it's incurring. 22% of those cuts will be union workers. UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said "We have said consistently that General Motors cannot shrink itself to prosperity. In fact, shrinking General Motors only exacerbates its problems. Unfortunately, it is workers, their families and our communities that are being forced to suffer because of the failures of others,"

I'm sorry but this is exactly the problem with the auto industry. The sheer expense that automakers such as Ford and GM are incurring are because of incredibly high labor costs contributed directly by Unions. Bottom line people...WE DON'T NEED UNIONS. They are what is wrong with industry today! I cringe every time I hear some Union sap defend his $30 cushy unskilled job. I don't doubt there are lots of very skilled union jobs but the majority of them aren't. Here's an example. On a union job site, they often pay someone well over $10 an hour to sit inside an elevator and operate the buttons for people going up and down the floors. YEP! That's right. An elevator operator. That typifies the problem.

And since WHEN is it Corporate America's responsibility to provide us years and years of employment at a specific job?! It's up to YOU, the individual to seek a path, learn a trade and go after the job that is right for you. If that job no longer produces for you or your family, you need to anticipate change, roll with the punches and deal with evolution. Learn a new skill and move on to another job. If your industry or company is suffering, MOVE ON to the next job or industry. I'm sick and tired of people whining about losing their job and blaming the company. Its BUSINESS people...if you don't understand that, you're a moron and you deserve to be swallowed up by the process. If you aren't ahead of it, fuck you. You deserve to be a victim. These job cuts are announced several months, if not years, in advance. But yet these people do nothing but whine and complain about how it effects their families. How about you DO SOMETHING about it, get off your lazy fucking ass and make something for yourself instead of blaming others. Go back to school, apply for another job. Get out of the assembly line production job and take your career to the next level. Anything! SOMETHING!

I say fuck em all honestly. Its about adapting to change and providing your own way for yourself and your family. There is only a small reliance on the company that's employing you...to keep employing you. If you aren't valuable enough or have the motivation, drive, or amibition to go out and learn a skill that's in demand, then have fun with your miserable shitty life where you blame others every time your horrendously unskilled job gets cut time and time again.

Wake up people. I hate to tell you but industries ebb and flow. Jobs flourish and get cut. If you don't have the wherewithall to keep your finger on the pulse of your company/industry then don't complain. Look to yourself to bear that responsibility and apologize to your family. You control your own destiny, not GM, Ford or whomever.
