Translucent airbrush paint is really going to cause some gorgeous z-axis light play in this mural. I'm going to use a 4030 reducer in a 1:3 ratio, using all translucent Createx acrylic airbrush paint. The reducer stops tip dry and enhances paint flow. At 40psi, paint will atomize creating intricate fades with full coverage. With a dual action airbrush, depressing the trigger adjusts airflow, while pulling back on the trick adjusts the spray pattern diameter. An airbrush is like having every color of spray paint and every spray cap in one simple and easy to use device. After I paint the birds, I am going to paint a large circle in the background using deep purple candy paint. I will first paint the circle with a reflective aluminum paint before applying the dye-based candy paint. This will give the piece that little something. Automotive painting is a new interest of mine. I have also been studying how to apply bass boat flake using a device called a mini flake buster. Airbrushing has been an exciting new hobby for me.
Taping my subject matter took three hours. Had to use the transparency projector as a lamp because I couldn't figure out which circuit breaker to flip to turn the lights on. Tamiya modeling makes this great masking tape that crinkles back with your fingernail and shapes really well.
