Grandma's Lye Soap for Laundry
This is 5 lbs. of Grandmas Lye Soap! I needed to make this so I can make laundry soap. I still haven't made washing powder as planned, because I needed some good basic strong soap (with no extra free fats). They say that lard is the best for laundry soap. I made this with 1/2 lard and 1/2 coconut oil. I need to go to the store and get some washing soda still.
This is enough Grandma's lye soap to make years and years worth of laundry washing powder. I will have to cut a hunk off to keep as a laundry stain stick though.
Why do I feel like I should be off in the corner eating grits and hog jowls after this project? hehe
