Glory Days

Well, I finally did it.

I got a kitty.

His name is Bruce Springsteen. He's orange. I met Burt in Flint on Saturday and picked him up--he's my cousin's cat's baby. Side story: Burt and I also went shopping together, which was pretty nice. And I locked my keys in the car, so he had to break in, which was not easy, but easier than I was comfortable with. Exciting, but not nice, hanging out in the Pizza Hut parking lot in Flint. I guess there's no one better that I could be with when I lock my keys in the car. Lesson learned... again.

Bruce is a little older than I wanted in a kitten, but he's very sweet. He likes to play and be pet, but not be held so much. But you wanna know the best part? Abhik. Abhik is the best part. He is SSOOOOOOO adorable with the kitty. He talks to him and plays with him, and the two times we've been out shopping since I got it, he's picked out kitty toys for him. He loves him. And it's weird to see Abhik be nice and sweet with something non-human (or something human). He's usually very clever and verbose, but to hear him coo and giggle is out of character for him, but it's very endearing. He tries to play cool, but he's just like a little boy.

As for me, it feels good to have something non-stressful and non-selfish to think about. I feel like I have to apply to a good graduate school so that I can make a good life for Bruce Springsteen. I think it'll be good for me... also, it quiets the baby itch.

So yep. We're cat people now. I hope we don't become like other pet people I know.

Tonight we're sleeping at Bhik's place. We both miss Bruce Springsteen, I think. Maybe I'll play "I'm on Fire". I hope he's not crying... do you think he's crying? Okay, maybe I'll go home.
