I made awesome!
So, somehow on this glorious internet, I found the best idea ever.
Lately, I've been wanting one of those mesh frame dealies to hang all my earrings on. They're all really ugly and/or expensive though, so I intended to make one. Someday...
That day was today. I found instructions detailing how someone made one out of an old vinyl LP. GENIUS.
Bonus: my house is full of old records that have been left here over the years by my mother and her siblings.
I fished through some of the records that were in my stereo (for anyone who hasn't been to my house, I have one of those awesome old stereos that's like a piece of furniture, and was actually used as a buffet in the dining room for as long as I can remember, and it's the one piece of furniture I requested as inheritance from my grandparents) and found some random crap. I then went all anal-retentive and traced it onto graph paper and carefully mapped out where all the holes would go, and then marked them on the record itself. I made the holes through the vinyl by heating up a small screwdriver with a lighter and forcing it through.
Now, I have the most awesome earring holder, and paid absolutely nothing for it. Although, I think I'm gonna make another one because it only holds 9 pairs, and I have way more earrings than that. I also need to make a stand for it, or attach it to the wall in my room.
Also, if anyone's interested, I have a few more shitty records that can be reincarnated into awesome. Just let me know. It's like, 10 minutes of work now that I have the template drawn out.
