Skinner married to Gerard's marshal
The story I'm looking for I know is part of a series, but I never got past the one part. I know it's at the Gossamer Project, so just the author or title will be enough. A tabloid reporter is a a hotel bar and overhears the conversation between two middle aged men and a beautiful woman of color (black? Hispanic?). One man is begging the woman to leave the other man and come back to Texas with him. Recognizing the other man as an FBI bigwig the reporter offers the woman money for sex and information for a bit of blackmail. Turns out she isn't a hooker, she's the new Mrs. Walter Skinner and former US Marshal under Sam Gerard, who wants her to come back to work. Oops!
