Well for the first time sinse the active hurricane season, I am actually remotely interested in the weather. The summer wasn't all that exciting either, these last couple years there has been a major lack in severe weather and an unpresidented amount of summertime nor'easters which become heavy rainmakers.
Anyhow, this week is going to be dominated by high pressure, a huge fair weather system which will bring us normal temperatures.... low 50s during the day and generally 25 to 35 at night. There is the slightest chance for a shower and even slighter of a chance of a flurry at some point this week, but overall enjoy the nice weather because trouble is on its way.
Saturday and Sunday will be mild, with temperatures maybe reaching 60. Sunday a cold front moves through, bringing our weather back below normal. Temperatures Sunday night will drop to the 30's, if not lower. Early Monday morning, the cold front will stall just south of Long Island, and at the same time a developing storm will slowly move offshore following along the front. Once it does so, it is expected to rapidly strengthen. Monday afternoon light snow may develop, by Monday Night not just accumulating snow, but HEAVY SNOW. Just in time for Thanksgiving, computer models are indicating the possibility of a major snow storm that may last for at least 24 hours. On top of that, at this point the storm looks like it will be a slow mover, and may even stall just south of Long Island. If this scenario were to happen, we would have a historic weather event.
Last winter's snow storm season started off with a whopping 21 inches of snow a week after thanksgiving.
Of course, it is still far out there and many things can and will change, but if you wanna know if you should bring a change of batteries in your MP3 CD player in the event of running into traffic, keep your eye to the skizzleskyyyyyyyy!
