How do you say "Wylin"in Portugese?

As of tonight, Wed Jan 19th 2005, I am apparently no longer a student of Furacao because I need to "figure out what I want to do"according to him. I have figured out what I want to do, that is why I am in school full time, working full time and training capoeira but I suppose that is not good enough for him. I grow tired of telling him only to ( Read more... )

This motherfucker is getting on my last nerve. When I was a student he would have his "mood swings" also and he would rant and rave and tell us we were not good enough, not dedicated enough, not whatever enough. I would definitely become frustrated with his behavior but because I knew my own mind and heart I knew what I wanted out of Capoeira and what lengths I personally was willing to go so I would listen to his complaints and take them with a grain of salt. However, now he has gone too far. One of his most dedicated, intelligent, enthusiastic students is busy working, getting a masters degree and training capoeira and that to him is "not knowing what you want with your life." If anything that is the exact opposite of it! I am sorry but it appears to me, and I am no shrink so take this as you will, but it appears that Furacao is projecting. Maybe it is he who is confused about his own life and his own dedication to and relationship with capoeira. I have always believed that Furacao was a good Capoeirista however, I felt that what he lacked in natural ability, ala Milho, he made up for in dedication. Perhaps now that he sees that Milho is wwwwwaaaaay better than him, that student has become the master he feels threatened or inadequate and that has caused him to lash out at everyone else and question their ability and dedication. Furacao is a good capoeirista but one thing he is not and has NEVER been is a good teacher. I have said this before many many many times and I stand by it now more than ever. If you want to engrain a sense of purpose and loyalty and foster feelings of dedication then you do so with encouragement. You do not however, demoralize, degrade, question and accuse. Perhaps Furacao is happy to live his life solely as a Capoeirista with no desire to get an education, better himself mentally as well as physically but, he should not project that desire onto others or expect it to be a natural part of their persona. Yes he loves capoeira and dedicates himself to it 110% but just because you and others do not that does not make them any less dedicated or invested in the art. Why does Milho not get chastised for being a student, having a girlfriend living his life and doing capoeira? Is it because he teaches classes or is it perhaps because he is an awesome student who Fura could not afford to lose as his "prodigy." If Milho sucked would Fura still afford him the same opportunities and grant him the same allowances? Tony also goes to school and I know for a fact has missed classes to take finals or what have you. Why is he not "kicked out" of capoeira until he gets his head on straight? Vermelho I know you love Fura and you want to train with him forever and learn from him and blah blah blah but there comes a point where you have to say do I deserve this treatment. The fact that he says if you want to train again you can speak to him after his next Batizado is fucking reCOCKulous!!!! If you have not proven yourself to Fura yet then I am sorry but he is never going to accept you and he is just a fucking asshole!!!! Can you continue to train with Pirata on LI? Can you go train with Milho in that class in the city that he ABANDONED? I thought he said he was going to become a dedicated student again and thus not be teaching but that Milho would be teaching in his place. Doesn't that mean that you can train with Milho in the city? I find this all very disconcerting and I can not imagine what you are going through. If I were you I would go train with Lampreia but I know you are too good a person and too dedicated a friend and student to do such a "treasonous" thing. Too bad Fura-fuck-head does not have the same grasp on the situation.

Yo, that is the f-in Gospel Word right there. Scarlett O'Hara telling it like it is.

Has there been any updation with this? (i.e., did you get to talk to him?) I don't know man, I know that switching to Lampreia would be the devil, but if he really does cut you off - at least you have that option. Is Lampreia still Abada though?? Yo - let's just start a rival school united by fate. You feel it? The new school of capoeira where shit is 100% hardcore and you run 10 miles a day, every day and then jinga till your legs fall off, AND THEN do 100 saltos, and then play the berimbau for 3 hours. That would be the workout every day and if you can't handle it, then you can't roll with Malandragem Mortal (I just named the group).

E brings up a good point though - you think Fura's jealous of Milho? I wouldn't really know who's better though.

One thing I will say though - don't let this get you down. There will always be people trying to get in your way. Just keep doing what you do - if you love capoeira, just keep doing it. Fura or no Fura - if he wants to take himself out of your life, that's his tunnel-vision decision. And remember - don't think about girls anymore and get distracted.
