Pairing: Jongin/Sehun
Rating: PG-13
Summary: This is the story of two stupid best friends who are in love with each other.

let's get drunk tonight and tell each other
everything we're too afraid to say sober

Jongin wakes up to the loud ringing of Sehun's alarm clock on the first day of their week-long spring break nursing the biggest hangover in the world. As sunlight beams through the curtains and the smell of bacon drifts down from the kitchen, Jongin is this close to throwing up the entire contents of his stomach onto Sehun's bed. The room is spinning and it reeks of lingering alcohol and cologne and oh god - the stupid alarm clock is still going off.

"Sehun, fucking turn that thing off," Jongin hisses as he elbows the younger boy sprawled next to him on on the bed in the ribs.

"Sorry," Sehun mumbles into his pillow as he reaches out blindly on his table to swipe at his cell phone, missing several times before he finally turns the obnoxious sound off. "Forgot to turn it off for break."

Jongin's headache is getting worse and worse by the second and he has no strength to reply so he drops his head back onto the pillow and passes out until three in the afternoon when he promptly wakes up and makes best friend with the toilet for the following hour.

"I am never fucking drinking again," Jongin gags into the toilet as Sehun sits by his side rubbing soothing circles on his back.

"What the hell happened last night? Did I do anything stupid?" the older boy manages to croak out before another wave of nausea hits him.

"You...don't remember anything?" Sehun asks slowly as his hand stills on Jongin's back.

"I remember chugging down shots with Jongdae and Joonmyun sucking at pong. And that's pretty much it. Guess I blacked out soon after. Look at the state I'm in, does it look like I could have remembered anything?"

Sehun looks long and hard at Jongin before removing his hand all together.

"I fucking hate you. I hate it when you get drunk like this and I have to take care of you all night and the next day."

Jongin looks up with a weary smile. "Sorry. And thanks, best friend."

A few more minutes pass and neither of them say anything.

"Are you done?" Sehun finally asks when it seems like there can't be anything else to be thrown up from Jongin's empty stomach. "Can I drive you home now? I have other shit to do."

Sehun doesn't look at Jongin when he says this, but he knows Jongin's probably furrowing his brows with confusion. Sehun doesn't like being an ass to his best friend, but sometimes, he can't help it. Especially now.

"Why are you still mad? I said I was sorry and it's not like I've never taken care of you before when you were shitfaced."

"I'm not mad," Sehun grumbles as he throws some paper towels at Jongin's face so he can clean himself up.

"Well, you sound pretty mad," Jongin huffs indignantly.

Sehun ignores Jongin's comment as he pushes himself up from the bathroom floor and opens the door.

"I'll wait in the car," he tosses behind his shoulder as he leaves Jongin sitting by himself.

The car ride to Jongin's house is uncomfortably silent despite Sehun's attempt at blasting the radio to prevent any kinds of talking, eyes glued to the road and hands gripped tight onto the steering wheel. Jongin only lives a few blocks away, but he thinks it feels like an eternity before his house finally comes into view.

"So," Jongin begins hesitantly as he opens his car door. "Thanks for the ride. You want to get dinner tomorrow?"

Sehun doesn't reply and looks out the window instead, catching his own solemn expression reflecting back in the side view mirror.

"My treat?" Jongin tries again.

"Maybe," Sehun finally replies as he fidgets his hands against the steering wheel, fingers tracing the leather interior.

"Sehun-"

"Look, I got to go Jongin. My parents are going to be home soon."

Jongin doesn't push it. He knows Sehun too well when he gets into one of his moods and it's better to leave him alone for awhile than to harass information out of him. So he awkwardly says his goodbye before closing Sehun's car door.

Rewind.

Music bounces off the walls from Joonmyun's basement as the boy closes one eye and aims the ping pong ball at the row of red cups on the opposite side of the table. It hits the rim of the one of the back cups before dropping to the floor and Joonmyun groans in frustration. Break has officially started and he has taken the liberty of throwing a huge party to celebrate his last high school spring break.

Jongin and Sehun are standing around the table with Baekhyun and Jongdae, listening to Chanyeol brag about his bartending skills as he pours liquids that definitely should not be combined together into cups, encouraging everyone to try his signature drink. At first sip, everyone gags at the disgusting concoction running down their throats, swiftly ending Chanyeol's smug bragging of his (nonexistent) bartending skills. Instead, Jongdae grabs the bottle of vodka from the table and starts taking shots and even though that burns his throat too, he claims nothing could be worse than the shit Chanyeol has just forced him to drink.

By two in the morning, Jongin's all over the room, talking to all of the guests even the ones he doesn't know and giving clingy hugs to the ones he does know. Sehun laughs as Jongin snakes his arms around Joonmyun's waist, resting his chin on the other's shoulder, the older boy turning around in surprise at how touchy Jongin's being. Sehun knows that his best friend is drunk because Jongin is only that affectionate when he's intoxicated. Soon, Jongin saunters his way over to Sehun and drapes an arm around his shoulder.

"Best friend," Jongin half laughs, half slurs. "Come play pong with me. We can definitely own Joonmyun-hyung."

"I don't think that's a good idea, Jongin. You're really drunk. We should probably just go home."

"Hmm-I am," Jongin replies as he ruffles Sehun's hair. At least he's a honest drunk.

"Come on idiot, I'll take you home," Sehun sighs as he shifts to his feet, but Jongin pulls on his hand to stop.

"Your house," Jongin whines. "Want to sleep over."

Sehun rolls his eyes, but agrees as he drags Jongin upstairs while saying goodbye to their friends in the process. He hails a cab home and lets Jongin sleep on his shoulders the entire ride back. He lugs Jongin into the house, down the hall and into his room as quietly as possible because he really doesn't feel like explaining to his parents why an extremely intoxicated Jongin is in their hallway at two in the morning.

"You're so fucking heavy," Sehun complains as he closes his bedroom door.

"Can't all be skin and bones like you," Jongin retaliates as he tumbles into bed, pulling Sehun down with him and rests his head in the crook of Sehun's shoulders.

"Thanks for taking care of me, Sehun-ah. You're the best."

"Yeah, you're lucky I like you." Sehun replies.

"I like you too," Jongin hums in agreement.

Sehun's heart does a strange flip even though he knows Jongin's statement means nothing more than platonic love. Maybe it's the fact that he's been trying to keep quiet about this secret for so damn long and he just can't do it anymore or the alcohol in his system that's suddenly making him feel bold or maybe it's the way Jongin's snuggled up warmly next to him, but by the time he realizes what has just tumbled out of his mouth, it's too late.

"No, stupid. I like you-like you, as in like you. As more than a friend."

There's no response from Jongin and Sehun doesn't know if he has fallen asleep or is just too shocked to reply, but he can't even hear the silence due to the blood rushing to his ears. But then Jongin stirs from next to him.

"Yeah, I know. I like you too," Jongin finally mumbles back against his neck.

And before Sehun can reply, he can feel Jongin's lashes flutter against his jawline, his breathing turning even as he drifts off to sleep.

Fast forward.

Sehun's buried in Chemistry homework when his phone vibrates against the table and lights up with a picture of him and Jongin making silly buing buing faces at the camera, kkamjong in huge letters at the top. He jabs the decline button and flips his phone face down before returning to counting atoms on his worksheet. A few seconds later, his phone rings again and Sehun frowns. This is probably the tenth time Jongin's had called him since Monday in addition to his countless texts, which Sehun had all promptly ignored. He decides to pick up this time just to tell Jongin off, but when he brings the phone up to his ears, nothing comes out of his mouth.

"Sehun," Jongin begs from the other end. "Just tell me what's wrong, please? Why are you ignoring me? Was it something I said? What did I do? Please just tell me."

"Go away, Jongin. I'm busy."

"Doing what?" Jongin asks and Sehun can hear the hurt in his voice, but he doesn't care. "It's Wednesday night and you're never busy because it's Movie Wednesdays and you only hang out with me then. I'm sure you can spare a few minutes."

"I'm doing my Chemistry homework that's due when school starts and I don't have time to talk to you."

"Don't have time to talk or don't want to talk?" Jongin presses.

"Don't want to," Sehun hisses into the speaker before pressing the red end call button and tossing his phone behind him onto his bed.

Twenty minutes later, Sehun is pulled out of the fascinating world of protons and electrons by a persistent ringing of his doorbell. His parents had gone out for the evening and it's way too early for them to be back and plus, they would never forget their keys. Sehun can only conclude that the person at his door is none other than Kim Jongin himself. The doorbell rings several more times before Sehun finally makes his way to the front door.

"What the fuck are you doing," he asks as he stares at Jongin.

The older boy folds his arms across his chest. "Well, you hung up on me and I figured this is the only way I'd get you to talk to me."

"I could just slam the door in your face," Sehun replies and his expression is permanently set into his poker face.

"Then I'll just keep ringing your doorbell."

"You are so fucking immature," Sehun scowls as he spins on his heels to walk towards the living room.

Jongin follows him inside and grips Sehun's shoulder a little harder than intended when he feels Sehun tense up beneath his touch and moves in front of the younger boy.

"What is that supposed to mean," he demands. "You're the one who's ignoring all my calls and won't even talk to me. And you're calling me immature? Check yourself, Sehun before you start pointing fingers at other people."

Jongin's voice rises with each word and Sehun doesn't think he's ever seen Jongin this angry before, especially at him. He pushes past Jongin and plops down onto the couch.

"Talk then," he says simply.

"I want to know why you're so mad at me. Because the last time I checked, I don't remember saying or doing anything to piss you off."

Sehun glares at Jongin, but doesn't say anything. He chooses to look away instead, past Jongin's face and the older boy's beyond furious at this point.

"Look, I know you're used to being a fucking brat, but don't pull that shit with me," Jongin spits out.

"Shut the fuck up," Sehun growls as he rises to his feet and he's glad he's just that much taller than Jongin to make the other boy feel inferior because he's never been good at confrontations. "I don't understand how you can be so stupid and oblivious to everything."

"Holy shit, just say it, okay Sehun? Stop beating around the bush and just say it."

"You really don't remember a thing, do you? That night. When we were over at Joonmyun-hyung's and we were drinking. Do you know what you said to me that night?"

Jongin's face is painted with a series of confused looks. "No, what did I say?"

"You said you liked me. God dammit, you said you fucking liked me, Jongin. And of course, the next morning, you didn't remember a single thing.

"I said that to you?" Jongin's looking at the floor now. "Why did I say that?"

"Because," Sehun whispers so quietly that Jongin can barely even hear him. "I told you that I liked you first." Sehun looks at Jongin with an unreadable expression. "I had a feeling you didn't mean it. I was an idiot for thinking you did. Why did you say it though, Jongin? Why did you say it back? That was a dick move."

Jongin looks at Sehun, really looks at him for the first time that night. He takes in Sehun's smooth skin, sleepy eyes that are now glaring back at him, thin pink lips turned into a scowl and suddenly, everything makes sense. All those times when Sehun would wrap an arm around his shoulder a little tighter than necessary, lace their fingers together during the cold winters as they walk home from school, cuddle unusually close next to him in bed during a sleepover, it wasn't because Sehun was being a touchy and clingy best friend. It was so much more than that. It was because Sehun liked him. And god, Jongin felt like a complete idiot for not realizing.

Before Jongin could say anything, Sehun pushes past him. "I'm going to finish my homework. You can show yourself out. Lock the front door after you, will you?" he mutters as he makes his way to his bedroom and slams the door.

Jongin's eyes are trained to the spot that Sehun's been standing in. And he doesn't leave.

An hour later, Jongin makes his way down the hall and pries open Sehun's bedroom door without even knocking.

"What the fuck, Jongin!" Sehun says in surprise from his desk as he stands up. "How the hell did you get in?"

"I never left," Jongin shrugs.

"That's really fucking creepy." Sehun makes a face.

Jongin pointedly ignores Sehun's comment and takes three strides up to the younger boy and corners him against the desk.

"I meant what I said," he breathes out.

"What?"

"I meant what I said about liking you. I guess I've always liked you too. I don't know, it's just that you're my best friend so it's kind of weird, right? I've never thought about liking you like that, but I suppose it was inevitable."

Sehun closes his eyes. "Don't," he says. "Don't say things you don't mean. You don't have to say anything just for the sake of it."

"I'm not," Jongin frowns. "I do mean it. I-I like it when you sometimes lace our fingers together and when we cuddle in bed. And sometimes, maybe I think about kissing you. Kind of like now?" Jongin's expression softens. "Yeah, I kind of really want to kiss you right now," he concludes.

Sehun looks at him square in the eyes, dark orbs burning into Jongin, silently saying I dare you. "So do it."

Jongin leans forward and his mouth is on Sehun's. The younger boy freezes at the feeling, but Jongin doesn't move away. It's tentative at first, just lips pressed against lips until Sehun shifts and threads his fingers through Jongin's hair to bring him closer. And that's all it takes for Jongin to tilt his head and kiss back earnestly, molding his pouty lips to fit against Sehun's thin ones. Sehun sighs contently into his mouth and that's all the encouragement Jongin needs to lick his way into Sehun's mouth to curl their tongues together.

"I don't think I can ever stop kissing you," Sehun admits shyly through bashful lashes.

"Then don't," Jongin smiles and pulls Sehun back into another heated kiss.

They don't know how long they've been making out against Sehun's desk; maybe a few minutes, maybe half an hour, but it's nice and neither of them wants to be the first to pull away. They're kissing slowly now, taking the time to really explore each other's mouths and yeah, Sehun thinks, he really can do this forever.

"I fucking hate you," Sehun whines against Jongin's lips when they finally pull apart. "Stupid best friend."

"Hate me?" Jongin looks amused, but mocks hurt just to play along. "But you just said you could never stop kissing me," he smirks.

"I can't, but I still hate you," Sehun replies as he pouts his pink lips which are now slightly swollen from their make out session and Jongin smiles at the sight.

"Hmm, I like you too, Oh Sehun," Jongin grins before placing tickling kisses all over Sehun's face until the younger boy's laughing and shoving him away.

Jongin thinks he could probably do this forever too.
