Favorite X-Files Fanfic!

Jan 04, 2010 22:34

In my ongoing effort to make my weekend as un-productive as possible, I bring you a mega-list of Kirsten's favorite X-Files fanfic. Eventually I'll probably add in other fandoms, but this is what I've got now. Categorized for your perusal, even. Enjoy!

(Note: As Gossamer dislikes teh hotlinks, I give you the titles and authors, and you can knock yourself out... the longer ones I linked to at The Annex)

(Another Note: I like looong stories. Deal!)

(Okay, one more: Check the ratings on each story. Some stories include sex and/or violence. Final warning.)

MSR
(Yes, I <3 the MSR and made it my first category. Shut up.)

Tempest by Missy Pennington
Mulder, Scully, a plane crash... and Demerol. 13 years later, still love the Demerol.

Erlona's Heart by MD1016
Mulder and Scully, shipwrecked on a mysterious island, while Scully battles her cancer. (Set around season 4) Top-notch romance and storyline!

Novus Ordo Seclorum by Rebecca Rusnak
The Date has come and gone, and They run the world now. What happened to Mulder and Scully?

Series

Dragon Series by Sheryl Martin
Enter Jackie St. George. Mulder and Scully deal with the Canadian! Quite possibly one of the most awesome OCs in a fanfic ever.
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3

Generations Series by Macspooky
Mulder + Scully + family + life = awesome. The standard by which I measure virtually any other "get together and start a family" stories/series. In ANY fandom.
Book 1
Book 2
Book 3
Book 4
...and then some (scroll down!)

Magician Series by Suzanne Bickerstaffe and Jennifer Lyon
BEST. FANFIC. EVER. EVER. I can't count how many times I've re-read these. Imaginative, epic, and beautifully-told. Mulder and Scully are transported into a world where magic is real, gargoyles and elves roam... and a prophecy puts them right in the middle of a world at war. Just read it. Seriously.
Book 1 (PG version)
Book 2: The Runaway
Book 3: The Dark Queen (PG version)
Book 3.5: The Firebrand (only on Gossamer... written AFTER 4.. you could read them either way I suppose)
Book 4: The Warrior Priest

Misc

The Deep and Dazzling Darkness by Laura Anne Gilman
Mulder, Scully, and DOLPHINS! Can't go wrong. Well-written, cool premise... love it!

The Delphine Dilemma by Aaron Thode
Yes, more dolphins, very different premise. Script format, and would have probably been my favorite episode ever had it been real.

The Tiger Complex by LoneGunGuy
Not about tigers as the title suggests, but a little trip to the Amazon. Some cool biological concepts, great conspiracy, and well-written!

The Aquarium by Claudia Modell
Short and sweet, and oh-so-creative! Two characters that area always forgotten about tell their story.

Crossovers

Starkweather: Rex-Tremandae by Scully3776 and Spookykat
X-Files/Jurassic Park. Okay, so I'm just a sucker for decently-written Jurassic Park crossovers.

Jurassic Files by Bruce Carter and Angelia Derrick
X-Files/Jurassic Park. Dr. Sattler gets in on it, which rocks 'cause she was my fave. The pairings are a bit head-scratching, I'll admit... but I can live with that.

Future Winnings Series by Ecolea
X-Files/Star Trek: Voyager. Trapped on a quarantine ship for 300 years, Mulder ends up on Voyager, and becomes a part of the crew. Well-written and great characterization for both series. No Scully in this one, but awesome none the less!

X Jedi I
X Jedi II by Jackee C.
X-Files/Star Wars. Come on. Admit it. You always thought Mulder would make a kickass Jedi, right? Well, he does. Great merging of two universes, and extensive use of EU characters!

Endurance by Gillian Taylor
X-Files/Stargate SG-1. A cool take on what could have happened to Mulder after the events of "Requiem." And the fangirl said "Let there be Jack and Daniel snark," and it was so, and she saw that it was good.

Disney
(...come on, you knew I'd give this its own category, right?)

Headhunters by Linda Hull
The conspiracy of the Cryogenically-Frozen Head! Yeah, that one. Mulder, Scully, and some old skool Walt Disney World. Alien Encounter for the win!

Magic Kingdom... or Devil's Playground? by Jennifer Ethridge
I vote the latter. But I'm biased. More old skool WDW. Can haz Mr. Toad? And a slightly-inaccurate Thunder downtime?

fanfic, x-files
