So, um, I lose at the LJ updating game. Okies, let's see...
Last weekend: Sick. Not fun. Call in sick on Monday.
Wednesday night:
muldy and
dark_faith366 convince me that I need to spend another night in Vancouver. I agree. XD
Yesterday morning: I awake to much squee and bouncing, as Amy Adams has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Enchanted, and "That's How You Know" has been nominated for Best Original Song.
Yesterday afternoon:
muldy comes to play! I play at Gameworks for a bit while I wait for her bus to arrive, then we head down to Pike Place and the waterfront for awhile. Lots of window shopping, a stop at the original Starbucks, then down to the waterfront to go to the Curiosity Shoppe. I stop and take a picture with McDreamy... or a cardboard cutout of him outside a touristtrap!giftshop selling Grey's Anatomy scrubs (and the tag on his chest just says "Dreamy" XD). The Curiosity Shoppe has a smashed flat walrus face. I don't remember seeing that one before, but it's entirely possible that I just never noticed it. It kinda blends in with the wall. It's kinda creepy. We head over to Seattle Center and try to go up in the Space Needle (I haven't been up there since my senior prom), but it is closed for a private party. :(
Yesterday evening: the drive from hell up to Van! Big accident on I-5, it takes close to 5 hours to get to Vancouver. Canadian Border Agent makes fun of me for not being able to understand him through his thick accent. Then proceeds to make fun of us for having Aussies in the car but no alcohol. Finally make it to Van. I park across the street from hotel, but parking meter won't accept money - the other people ahead of us have the same problem. All involved give up and just walk away and go into the hotel. Ten minutes later, we return to the car to go out for the night, and find Mr. Patroller writing up tickets. Bummer. I explain that the meter isn't working, and Mr. Awesome Patroller helps get the already-processed ticket voided.
We continue on to the Frenchies' place, but get distracted by a possible filming site for a Very Popular Film Currently In Production. Said site does not pan out, and me (notwhiny!Scully) and Fi's (notabducted!Mulder) mad ninja film site finding skills are pwn3d. We give up and continue on.
Hanging out with the awesome Frenchies! Squee and discussion of every topic under the sun happens. I drink a beer, but refrain from getting drunk this time. We hang out until 4 am, when we're practically falling asleep sitting up. We pile back into the car and head back to the hotel.
But wait! Where we were foiled earlier, a film site has magically appeared! It is totally unmarked. Curiosity abounds. Alas, it is on East Hastings, and I would not like to walk down East Hastings in the middle of the day, let alone 4:30 in the morning. I enjoy my life and my car, thank you very much. We remain in the car... but make several loops around the block, trying to spot any clues, hoping it's what we think it is. No one recognizable, but there are Chicago markings on emergency vehicles parked on the street. Hmm. In my little mind, it is The X-Files, and so shall it remain that way. XD
Back to the hotel, and finally to bed at 5 am... only to get up again at 7:30 to race back to Seattle for work. While stopping at the McDonald's in Ladner, I see signs for "The Day the Earth Stood Still" filming. I get the Really Really Slow Border Patrol Agent lane, and so crossing the border takes Forever despite the small lineup. I race home, then race to work for the day. And here I am.
My tooth hurts. I think I have a cavity. It hurts whenever I get jostled at all. This sucks, for so many reasons. I shall continue to give the ibuprofen bottle love. Lots and lots of love.
This crazy entry brought to you by Too Much Ibuprofen.
