A second update...

On ferrets. Lately, Boo has been... not well. He lost a lot of weight and became a crotchety, aggressive ferret over the summer. He's been skinny, slinking about like a wet weasel, and biting everything that moves. This past week they haven't had much attention, but...

Today I was able to let them out. I was expecting Boo to be a crotchety old man, so I sat on my feet and played with Tink, with her various bell-balls and toilet-paper rolls. After a little while, I see Boo bound by. Not scuttle like he has been, back arched, head up, looking around. Under the bed goes he, and when he comes out, the faintest of dooks. One, and he throws a fit. A little seizure of a wardance around the TP roll. I was so happy I started gushing over him, and he didn't bite! At all! Even when I hand-wrestled him, he didn't put his teeth on me.

Mind, this is the first time in pretty much the whole summer- since I first left to work- that I've seen him wardance and be happy. I picked him up, and his weight is back. He doesn't look so sunken and sad, his fur is chocholatey rather than mousy again, and he's got no huge shoulder blade bumps anymore. He must weigh three and a quarter pounds, so he's put back 3/4 of the weight he lost. And, the most fantastic of events happened today. The first happened on my bed. Tink and Boo began to play peek-a-boo, Tink in the pillow covers and Boo under the blanket. The second, when they were downstairs, was in a chair. They jumped onto it and wrestled with each other, and there was NO screaming from Tink! And when she left, Boo didn't chase her, he just lay down and put on that woebegone look that Basset hounds use so well.

Because I was so happy, I took pictures, which are cleverly hidden

My sweet babyface comes to investigate the strange apparatus attached to my face. I love this picture, even if it's a bit blurry, because you can see he pretty eye-marks.

"That foolish human will never find me here!" The top of Tink's jaw, as she notices I've focussed the camera on her, she pulls back in and threatens me with her JAWS of DOOM.

Boo, checking out my guitar case. Eventually he got in, but for the most part he just pushed it around and chewed on it.

This is somethin I find strange, but attribute to his personality. Boo has always been a COMPULSIVE happy-scratcher. When he's having tons of fun, he suddenly drops to the ground and scratches his neck or bites his rear. I've combed him over for fleas and mites, and had him tested and bathed, and nothing. He just does it when he's happy. Today, he wouldn't stop, I thought he'd take his lovely fur off.

I am a happy teenager =)
