The phrase "Sleep tight and dont let the bed bugs bite" came from back in the day when your beds had rope instead of springs holding you up so 'Sleep tight' means make sure the ropes are secure and 'Dont let the bed bugs bite' yes bed bugs are real bugs. The arent fun so they would say Dont let them bite to kind of be a 'helpful charm'.
