She’s wide awake, standing at the door to her office, but she feels like she’s dreaming. At her desk sits John Sheppard - not an unusual sight in itself, if she’s honest - and he’s busily tapping away at her computer. What did she just walk into, she wonders?
When she steps in, and quietly moves around behind him, she’s just as surprised to see that he’s working. The mission report from that day. He’s writing his report, the words appearing on the screen as she wets her tongue with her lips and watches him.
She waits until he stops and turns to look at her before she speaks. “Can’t sleep?”
“Today, we made the greatest technological discovery that Atlantis has made in three years.”
She looked at him quizzically, tilting her head to the side. She can barely think with her mind clouded like this.
“Of course I can’t sleep,” he said with a grin. “This is amazing.”
She hesitates a moment, unsure what to do. Her fingers toy with the edge of her shirt. “Want some company?”
He looks at her, then, properly, as if just realising that she’s there, that she also has not been able to sleep. His smile softens, and he leans back in the chair. “Sure. I’m nearly done here. I was going to sneak into the infirmary for a hot chocolate after.”
She pulled a spare chair over and sat. “Sounds perfect.”
